Part - 109
Mini and Neil got confused and exchanged looks. Biji smiled.
Neil: (whispers to Mini) Yeh Dadu kya karne wale hain ab?
Mini: I have no idea!
Dadu: Arre ab aise kya dekh rahe ho ek dusre ko? Chalo!
He took them on the stage. Mini and Neil were standing on his either side. He was holding their hands. Both were still confused but stood quiet.
Dadu: Aap sabhi ka bahot bahot shukriya ki aap log yahan aaye. Aaj sirf Shammi ji aur meri shaadi ki saalgirah hi nahi hai balki aaj main aap sab se kuch aisi baat kehna jo bahot waqt se mere mann mein hi hai. Maine aaj se theek ek hafte baad apni poti Mini ki sagai iss lambu...mera matlab Neil se karwane ka faisla kiya hai. Aur phir sagai ke teen din baad shaadi hogi. He announced leaving Mini and Neil shocked. Everybody else happily applauded on the announcement.
Mini/Neil: WHAT!!
Neil: SAGAI?
Mini: EK HAFTA?
Mini/Neil: AUR SHAADI ITNI JALDI??
Dadu: Chup karo tum dono!
They put their fingers on their lips like small kids and looked at each other.
Dadu: Aur kitna waqt chahiye tum dono ko?
Mini: Par dadu...ek hafta?
Dadu: Haan haan. Pata hai bahot zyada waqt hai. Isse zyada time nahi milega.
Mini: 😮
Neil giggled. They knew it was of no use to argue so they gave in.
Preet: Wah Dadu! Yeh aapne bahot achha faisla liya hai. Nahi toh inn dono se toh koi umeed nahi hai hume.
Mini glared at her but then looked at Neil and they both smiled at each other. They didn't need words to converse their feelings. Their eyes spoke better. Biji came and caressed their cheeks. They took blessings from the elders and came down the stage. Everybody congratulated them. Later Preet and Saumya started teasing them. Mini was blushing and tried in vain to avoid their teasing session. Arya was overjoyed and hugged both of them together.
Arya: Thank you Neil! Thank you Veer Balika!
Neil/Mini: Thank you kisliye?
Arya: Kyunki tum dono meri third wish puri karne wale ho. Tumhari shaadi hai!! Main toh bahot excited hoon. Bahot maza aayega. Main naa sare functions ke liye new dresses lungi aur hum sab bahot enjoy karenge. Haina Preet didi?
Mini and Neil smiled at her.
Preet: Of course, Arya. Tumhari Veer Balika aur Genie ki shaadi hai. Maza toh aayega hi.
Arya: ☺️🙈
Mini: Oye chhutanki! Kya hua? Tu kya sharma rahi hai itna?
She smiled and ran away. Others giggled at her.
Two days later, the preparations for their engagement began and amidst everything Neil was feeling something off.
He hasn't even gone to the restaurant and has been in his room since last night. Mini comes down and sees that all her friends are there except Neil. They all are planning for themes of all the functions. Arya is super excited to give her solo dance performance on her favourites' engagement.
Mini: Hi guys. Tum sab yahan? Kab aaye?
Saumya: Aao ji. Uth gaye aap so kar?
Preet: Hadd hai Mini! Ab toh jaldi uth jaati. Matlab, hum sab yahan inn dono ki shaadi ki planning kar rahe hain aur jinki shaadi hai unhe toh sone se fursat nahi hai.
Mini: Chup kar yaar Preet! Rani didi, chai bana do sabke liye.
Bobby: Mini, hum toh chai pi chuke hain. Tu apni banwa bas.
Mini: Itni jaldi?
They look at each other.
Mickey: Time dekha hai tune? 12 baj rahe hain.
Mini: What! 12 baj gaye? Aur Neil kahan hain?... don't tell me woh abhi tak so raha hai...
Arya: Ab tum us par kyun gussa ho rai ho? Tum khud toh abhi uthi ho.
Mini: 😑
Others laughed.
Preet: Kuch nahi ho sakta tum dono ka.
Arya: Veer Balika, idhar baitho naa humare sath. Hum naa tumhari shaadi ki planning kar rahe hain.
She held her hand and made her sit on the sofa with others.
Mini: Isme planning kya karni hai?
Preet: 🤦♀️ Tujhe koi excitement nahi hai?
Mini: Kya plan kar rahe ho?..
Saumya: Wait guys. I think...we should check on Neil first. Itni der tak sota nahi hai woh...aur aaj toh subah se bahar hi nahi aaya.
Mini: Yeah, actually. 12 baj gaye hain. Itni der tak room mein nahi rehta woh. Restaurant bhi nahi gaya... Main dekhti hoon.
She went to check on him. The door was open so she entered directly. He was sitting on his bed and holding something in his hand but hid it under the pillow the moment he realised her presence in the room.
Mini: Neil?
He had tears in his eyes which he wiped off immediately and turned his face towards her with a bright smile. But the worry behind that smile could not be hidden from Mini.
Mini: Kya hua? Tum abhi tak room mein ho? Is everything fine?
Neil: H..haan. All good. Mujhe kya hoga?
Mini: Achha?
She saw he had been hiding something from her and asked about it.
Mini: Kya chhupa rahe ho?
Neil: Tumse kya chhupaunga main Mini?
Mini: Neil, tumhare peeche kya hai?
Neil: K..kuch nahi...
She bent forward and pulled out that he had been hiding from her. He tried to stop her but Mini being Mini didn't budge. She took it out. It was his parents' photo frame. She looked at it and then at him whose eyes became moist again. Mini too had tears in her eyes by now.
Mini: Neil...
Neil: (rubbing his eyes) Theek hoon main, bas...photo par nazar chali gayi aur...by the way, yeh bahar itna shor kaisa hai? Koi aaya hua hai kya?
She sat next to him and gently kept her hand on his face.
Mini: Neil, it's okay! You can share anything with me. Jo bhi feel kar rahe ho bata sakte ho tum mujhe. Tum yeh apne parents ki picture ke sath.... Miss kar rahe the unhe?
Neil: Miss toh roz hi karta hoon. Par aaj...pata nahi Mini, kal raat se hi bahot ajeeb sa lag raha hai. Kuch hi dino mein sare functions start ho jayenge. Sab kuch achhe se ho raha. Sab log hain yahan par phir bhi kuch kami si hai. And I know, yeh kami unki hi hai. Par kya karu main? Miss hi kar sakta hoon bas. Aur koi option hi nahi hai mere pass.
While he was expressing his feelings, tears were flowing from her eyes too. She didn't say anything but kept on listening to him.
Neil: You know, mom dad ke guzarne se kuch time pehle ki baat hai. I was in twelfth. Boards the mere aur padhta nahi tha main. Mom dad kehte the ki agar padhega nahi toh teri shaadi kara denge. I know, woh sirf isiliye kehte the ki main padhai par dhyan du. Par ek baat thi jo mom dil se kaha karti thi. Kehti thi ki apni bahu ko woh bahot pyaar karengi. I was a single child, isliye apni bahu ko beti bana kar rakhna chahti thi... How I wish woh aaj yahan hoti. Tumse mil paati. And I know for a reason, she would have loved you, more than she loved me.
She smiled with teary eyes and wiped off his tears.
