"Should I go with pink or red lipgloss?"

"I always go with clear," Patty shrugs, brushing through her hair.

"I don't have clear," Penny frowns.

"You can borrow mine," I suggest, pulling a red crewneck sweater over my head.

"Thanks Laur!"

Oliver is waiting for me in the main hall when I get there. He grins and waves at me.

"Hey- you're wearing my house colors!"

"What?"

"Red sweater," he gestures.

"You know, red also symbolizes love and passion."

"I'd say that wearing my house colors shows that too."

"You're so patriotic," I grin.

He puts his arm around my shoulders. "Shall we get going?"

"I'd say so," I nod.

We make our way to Hogsmeade. It's a little quieter than usual; I'm nervous to talk to him.

"So," he says, quirking an eyebrow at me.

"So?" I smile, looking back at him.

"How's school going?"

"It's been pretty easy," I nod.

"For me too."

"Quidditch doesn't require much academic skill," I grin.

"No," he chuckles, "it doesn't."

We wander around the town for a while, keeping up polite small talk.

We're walking down a street of quaint cottages when I stop Oliver and take a deep breath.

"What is it?" he asks, glancing around.

"What are we?"

"A couple of dumbarses in Hogsmeade," he grins.

"No- Oliver, you know what I mean."

"I-" he frowns. "I mean, we can be whatever you want us to be."

"No- what do you want us to be?"

"Laurie, whatever you're comfortable with, really-"

"Do you not want to be my boyfriend?"

"I would love to be your boyfriend, I'm just not-"

"It seems like you don't want to be my boyfriend," I put my hands up turning away.

"You're not listening to me!" he steps closer to me.

"No, I am-"

"No, you're not! Just let me talk!"

"You really don't sound that enthusiastic."

"Laurie, I am enthusiastic-" he goes to put his hand on my shoulder and I flinch, shielding my face.

I inhale sharply and step away.

His face falls. "Laur, I-"

"I'm sorry," I say, composing myself.

"No- I'm sorry. I just- I just need you to listen to me."

"Okay- Um, yeah, yeah, my ears are open," I nod, glancing at my feet.

"I would love for us to be whatever you're ready for us to be."

"Yes, but I don't know what I'm ready for!" I say, getting frustrated.

"You've got plenty of time to figure that out."

"Well, what if while you're waiting, some other girl comes along and then you're gone forever?"

"I promise you I am not going anywhere, Laurie Parker," he places his hand on top of mine.

"I..." I take a deep breath. "I think I want us to be official."

"You're sure?"

I think for a second. "Yeah. It's been long enough."

"Really?" he grins.

"Are you sure you want me as your girlfriend?"

"Merlin's beard, what kind of a question is that!" he laughs and hugs me tightly. "Can I kiss you?"

I place my hands on his face and plant my lips on top of his.

We break apart, giggling.

I grab his hand. "So- where to now, boyfriend?"

"Fancy a trip to Zonko's, girlfriend?"

"I think that sounds lovely."

---

I get back to the Ravenclaw common room that evening to my enthusiastic roomates.

"How'd it go!?" Penny grins, finding me as soon as I walk in.

"How'd what go?" I smile.

"Are you two official now!?" Patty grabs my arm.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, please, Laurie, just tell us!"

"Well, I don't know if I have time; I've got quidditch practice and if I don't get there soon, my boyfriend will steal the pitch."

"Oh my God!" Penny squeals.

"Laurie, you two are so cute together!" Eleanor grins.

"Thanks, you lot," I smile and head up to my dormitory to get ready for quidditch practice.

---

At breakfast, Oliver comes over to the Hufflepuff table where I'm sitting with Candace, Ambria, and Penny.

"Hello," he smiles.

"Hey, Wood," Candace nods.

"Come to say hi to your girlfriend?" Penny asks.

"Yep!" he grins.

"Ambria owes me a galleon!" Candace shouts.

"Girlfriend!? When did that happen?" Ambria asks.

"Yesterday," I grin.

"You haven't been telling everyone you see, Parker?" Oliver frowns.

"You have?"

"Everyone in the school should know by now," he grins, proud.

"Just shout it from the astronomy tower, why don't you?"

"Amazing idea," he nods.

"Go eat your breakfast," I roll my eyes, smiling. He walks away.

"Oh my god, why didn't you tell us!?" Ambria asks, smacking me on the shoulder.

"I was going to! It only happened yesterday!"

"That's so exciting! Have you kissed yet?" She asks.

"Oh, we've kissed loads," I nod.

"I knew it!" Candace says.

"What?" I ask.

"We all knew you two fancied each other. It's been years of agony," Penny nods.

"But now all the waiting is over," Ambria grins.

"I want my galleon," Candace smirks.

"You two bet on my dating life?"

"Come on, Laurie, we couldn't resist!"

"I thought you two wouldn't get together until after school," Ambria pouts.

"I can't believe any of you," I roll my eyes, laughing.
