DRUIG'S POV

Dark brown eyes, those were the ones she had, I hadn't noticed them before but now I did. I've lived for so many years, tens turning to hundreds, hundreds turning into thousands. I've watched people grow, even in this little secluded community of mines. I saw them laugh, cry, get together, gather with friends, and it's made me miss a whole lot of things.

The Eternals especially, and the feeling of belonging to a group. But that was years ago now, long behind me. I thought I was perfectly fine on my own, I really did. I believed that it wasn't too bad, I didn't think being by myself was too bad.

But you just had to show up didn't you? With your witty comments, your snarky remarks, your rather strange entrance. Never would I have thought that you, Freya, would just show up out of the blue, from a cliff nonetheless. They told me you had to stay, I insisted on sending you to your camp myself just so you wouldn't stay around. But the doctors told me you had to, and I just obliged.

It's a curse, having you around the last week. And I couldn't help but talk back every time just trying to get you off my back, I always had a feeling that you'll be going back home soon, your stay should've been just a brief one. You'd just be a mere memory like every other human who passes and goes. But you just kept talking, and I just kept listening. And all the more I started to know you more. I didn't want to know you at first because if I did, I'll have to watch you go, knowing I'll still be here even if you passed. I just didn't want that day to ever come.

I sat alone out on the porch, enjoying the night sky briefly. I thought that you were asleep, but to my surprise you weren't.

"Gracing you with my presence," Freya beamed, and I couldn't help but hide a smile. "What are you doing out here?"

"Just felt like it. I'm going to assume you couldn't sleep."

"Great guess, signs point to yes."

"Well that rhymed."

"I know, this is where my poetic career begins," she joked once more. We both sighed, my eyes latched to the stars. "I never realized how pretty the stars looked."

"The moon as well," I commented. "The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" I was only met with silence, no sarcastic comment, nothing else in reply. I turned to look at Freya, who looked fazed by something. "Did I say something wrong?" And I was being serious.

"Huh- oh, no- no you didn't," Freya answered me quickly, and for the first time in six days she avoided my eyes. "Just reminded me of something, that's all. By the way, Druig, I'm planning to stay a bit longer- if that's alright with you of course."

I didn't want her to.

"I- Why?"

"I just feel like it." That wasn't much of a convincing answer to me, but she continued. "I need some time for myself, you get what I mean? Back in London it's just- draining. Day to day life."

I tried to lighten up the mood with a laugh. "I thought you enjoyed it."

"Not too much," she laughed along, shaking her head. "Maybe just a week or two more, Steph and Sersi wouldn't mind too much anyways. I've gone longer in other voyages anyways," Freya exaggerated her words, feigning a heavy sigh. "And it's pretty relaxing here- you wouldn't mind right?"

"No, not at all."
