The Betrayal

After our little encounter in my bedroom, James and I have been a bit tense.

Even Evelyn noticed it yesterday, "What happened with you two?" She pestered me, closing her locker door and catching up with me.

Yes, I know it's stupid that I'm back at school and yes, people are staring at me BUT it's okay because being at school is distracting me from this shit-fit of a situation I'm in.

"It's honestly nothing, you're reading too much into it." I laughed, limping as pain starts to shoot up my leg, "Are you sure you're okay?" Evelyn said worriedly.

I smiled and nodded, hobbling into class.

I poked my cold green beans and stale pasta around my tray and sighed.

"What's wrong?" Evelyn asked, I shrugged, "I don't know. I'm just tryna figure out how all of this happened. Like, what did we do? Of all people." I laughed humourlessly.

Eve smiled, "I think we've all been trying to figure it out."

The cafeteria doors swung open and I instinctively looked up, a smile appearing on my face after seeing James walking through, chatting with Mason.

"There are our boys." Evelyn smirked.

I went to go wave, when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.

My smile suddenly faltered when I saw who it was from.

Miss me?

"Fuck." I whispered.

"What?" Evelyn asked, peering over my shoulder, "Weird, I didn't get one."

T or D, except they decide your next move...

My heart starts beating as I re-read the text 3 times.

My finger slowly presses D before I close my eyes and send it. Who knows what I would have to admit if I pressed truth.

Not even a second later, my phone buzzes in my hand;

Kiss Zack Blakey on the lips and ask him on a date. If he says no, kiss him again.

"What the fuck." I nearly scream, shoving my phone into Evelyn's hands, "Read this shit."

I'm angry now, "Now that's messed up. They can't do that right?" She asked, I shook my head, "It was either this or truth and I-"

"Hey guys." A voice interupts.

I turn to see James and Mason placing their trays down, "What's going on?" He asks. I look at Evelyn who just shrugs, "I'm so sorry." I say directly to James, who has a green bean hanging in his mouth.

"Wait what-"

I get up abruptly, walking over to Zach Blakey's table and tap him on the shoulder, "Uh Zach." I say quietly, he turns around and gives me a once-over before returning to his conversation, "Zach." I clear my throat.

"What freak, can't you see I'm-"

I held my breath as I kissed him, hearing a few gasps from the table about him. He doesn't kiss me back and then I pull away, "Go on a date with me?" I say quietly. He seems shocked, "Yes or no?"

He suddenly smirks, "I'll pick you up at 8."

I nod, my entire body trembling with fear and adrenaline, "What the hell did I just do?" I repeated to myself five times over before I reached my table. And my heart sunk when I realised James was gone.
