Chapter 7

Rex's Pov:

I took a long hard draw from my cigarette.

I lay-ed back in my bed tasking in the tobacco as it swarmed my lungs and insides.

My voice beeped.

I blew out the smoke.

I smirked at the text message.

Jess..

I knew she would come back sooner or later.

Text message:

Daddy..we need to talk. Meet me at the drop off.

- Jessy

I scratched my chin.

The drop off eh?

Why did she want to go to the drop off?

I thought.

Shrugged.

Its been weeks.

Since..the fight.

I wish i hadn't hit her the way i did.

If only...

I shook my head.

It was her fault not mine.

I turned and smelt my arm pits.

I made a face.

I need a shower, but i'm not getting all fancy for her.

I ran my fingers threw my wavy black hair and stood up grabbing my jacket.

Let's just go see what she wants.

I smiled and leaned on a rock, behind the roar of the water fall.

She looked un-easy.

I cleared my throat and lit a cigarette.

She sighed

" Can you not smoke around me Please.."

She said shyly.

I smirked and blew the smoke in her face.

Her face grew red.

I chuckled.

" Come on.. your no fun.."

I said patting her cheeks.

She was such a stiff.

" I'-I'm..."

She stuttered, tossing her weight on both of her sides.

I stepped on my cigarette bud, paying attention now.

" Your what"

I said walking closer to her.

She looked into my eyes

" Pregnant"

She whispered.

My heart stopped.

No...

I felt rage bubble inside.

Before, I knew it i slapped her.

She fell to the ground.

She was crying.

Not daring to get back up.

She knew better then that.

I grabbed her hair.

" Your a Liar!"

I screamed

She whined in pain.

She turned her body and I saw her bump.

I let go of her hair that instant.

I fell to my knees.

Her face had a mark from my hand.

I felt numb.

She was pregnant.

"I told you"

She sniffed, standing up now.

I looked up at her.

" Is it mine?"

I asked with tears in my eyes.

If it was I would change.

Or I would try to change.

I wouldn't be a screw up like my parents were.

I was a smart guy, I just got in trouble a lot.

I never did anything after i graduated.

She interrupted my train of thought.

" It might. Theres my father and Bobby."

She looked away as she said it.

I knew why.

She was ashamed.

She turned to her father when I left her alone.

When I hurt her.

And , he used her.

I'm not sure who this Bobby character is though..

I stood up and took her hands.

" If its mine..I will marry you. Finally become that lawyer and make an honest life for you and this baby Jessy..I swear."

I promised.

I pulled her in for a passionate kiss.

The waterfall roar and splashed water on us, but we didn't break the kiss.

She cried in my arms afterwards.

I held her like I always did.

" You don't have to call me Daddy anymore.."

I said close to her ear.

She nodded.

I held her for hours.

It got dark and she fell asleep.

I didn't want to wake her up so I carried her home.

To our home.

I lay-ed her on my bed and covered her with the blanket.

SHe looked so innocent.

Like she used too.

Before, i got to her.

I sniffed.

I didn't realize i was crying.

I never cry.

I hesitated as my hand hovered over her mid-section.

I pressed my hand to her.

I shivered.

I felt a little life.

My child.

I leaned over to her stomach.

" I promise. You will be happy and safe."

I whispered to her belly button.

I kissed her stomach.

I leaned back against the foot of the bed.

It's time to straighten up.

I need to call Kary.

I won't fail this baby like I did everyone else.

I won't fail.
