~Katya's POV~

The first thing I thought when I looked at Onyx, the last person that Zena had introduced me to, was that he was the most attractive man I'd ever seen. Even though he was only sitting down, I could tell that he was probably over six feet tall, his frame broad and muscular.

His dark brown hair was short and styled yet messy, the tousled strands looking incredibly soft, and his brows were a quite nice shape for a man. Not necessarily trimmed but not bushy, either, and they had a nice little arch to them. The sharp line of his jaw was covered with light stubble, making it difficult not to notice his nice cheekbones. Full, pink lips sat beneath a straight nose, the bottom lip slightly wider than the top. His eyes were a pretty shade, a mix of dark green and brown, and his lashes were long.

Said pretty eyes zeroed in on me as I stood beside Zena, his muscular thighs spread slightly and his arms crossed over his chest, making him appear even more intimidating when the muscles in his biceps bulged. My face burned in embarrassment and I quickly looked away, pursing my lips uncomfortably.

Zena laughed, noticing how intimidated I was by Onyx, and slung her long arm around my shoulders. "Don't worry about him. He's just grumpy, and he doesn't talk much anyways." She assured me, her voice loud enough that I knew Onyx had caught her words by the way his jaw clenched. Despite that, he didn't say anything, and I forced out a soft laugh to try to brush it off.

Saki and Zena both urged me to join everyone else on the couch, my hands smoothing down the back of my skirt so nobody accidentally got flashed my panties. I shifted awkwardly as I now sat beside Onyx and Saki, clasping my hands in my lap.

"You want a drink?" Zena asked, poking her head around Ichiro's shoulder to look at me curiously. I hummed in thought and bit on my bottom lip, contemplating the question before I gave a slight nod of my head. "Sure." I said, watching as she and Saki got up with one another to go find me something to drink. That left me with everyone else, none of whom I really knew well at all, which just made me fiddle with my fingers and cross my legs over one another.

"So, Saki said you're new to town?" Cordelia asked me, stuffing her phone into the front pocket of her tight vinyl pants that she wore. I glanced over at her, not quite expecting any of them to speak to me when Saki wasn't here, but I was glad that at least she had. "Oh, um, yes. I just moved here last Saturday, actually." I responded with a nod of my head, meeting her gaze. Her head cocked to the side slightly and she smiled. "Where from? In state?" She wondered, and I quickly shook my head. "Out of state. Ohio, actually. Basically in the middle of nowhere, to be honest." I said, causing her to laugh. "Jul is from Ohio, too, you know. He's been here for a long time, though." She told me, pointing to Julius as he sat beside her.

Julius slung an arm around Cordelia and the way that her cheeks tinted brighter made me come to the assumption that the two of them must've been dating. He glanced over at me and I gave him a small smile, which he returned with a slight nod of his head as a way of saying hello. Judging by the fact that I had heard him babble endlessly during English with Ichiro, Yosef, and Saki, I assumed that he must've been the type to be quiet when meeting someone new and then act as himself after a while, so I didn't fret too much about it.

The door opened as Saki and Zena returned to the room a moment later, Zena carrying one drink in her hand while Saki held two. I glanced over at the two of them and smiled as Saki walked over to me, handing me a small cup that contained a pink drink that smelled fruity when I sniffed it slightly. It didn't smell bad, though I admittedly hadn't had alcohol before, so I wasn't sure what to think of the smell of it.

I took a curious, hesitant sip from the cup and immediately coughed, surprised by the strong taste that was the opposite of its scent. My eyes watered slightly and I patted my chest, clearing my throat in attempt to get rid of the burn that the drink had caused on the way down. "Um," I murmured, glancing over to Saki. "What...is this?" I asked her, cocking my head to the side curiously. Though the taste had caught me off guard at first, I took little sips from the cup until I began to get used to the strong, underlying taste beyond the fruitiness of it.

Saki giggled and sipped from her own cup. "It's just a pink lemonade vodka." She responded, and I hummed softly as I took another drink. To me, it tasted more sweet than it did of slightly sour lemonade, but it was good nonetheless.

While I drank until my cup was empty, the rest of them were talking amongst one another, laughing and giggling amongst themselves every once in a while. All of them except for Onyx, that is, who just silently sat beside me. However, beside me is putting in lightly, because he wasn't really very close to me at all. It just felt like it because of the way his long, muscular legs were spread, not touching me but still close.

For a while after that, everyone began to pull me into the conversations, asking me questions about myself to get to know me better. Mostly it was questions about college, like what I was majoring in, my electives and classes, things of that nature. I began to warm up to them rather quickly, especially with the help of the pink lemonade vodka that I had drank to loosen me up a little, and I felt rather glad that I was finally able to feel more comfortable amongst the group of friends. Maybe if I was lucky, then eventually I'd be able to call them my friends, too—all of them.

A few hours passed and I slowly finished off more drinks, making sure not too drink so much that I'd end up wasted. The others, though, didn't seem to share the same caution as me because all of them were drunk aside from Onyx, who was just watching a movie on the TV that was hung upon the wall across from the couch. He hadn't said so much as a word the entire time that I had been here, which I found incredibly odd. Well, I found him odd in general, wondering why he was so silent when most people would be joining in on drinking and talking with friends. Perhaps that was part of the reason why I leaned over to Zena when everyone else was talking, lowering my voice so only she could hear me when I spoke.

"What's up with him?" I whispered, discreetly pointing in Onyx's direction. She glanced over at him and giggled softly, her eyes a little bit hazy from the alcohol. "He's not very good with people, especially new ones like you, and has a bit of a temper. I think he just decided it's better to speak when he actually wants to say something." She said in a whisper, causing me to frown and furrow my brows. "Then why come to the party at all?" I wondered.

"You don't know?" Zena giggled. "This is Onyx's house."
