Awkward

Chapter 28

I decided to change the cast because I felt Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley looke better as a couple because #STELENA4LIFE, so yeah. Ava is now played by Nina and Chase is now played by Paul, any other character remains the same! :)

“What are you doing, Ash?” I said as she barged into my bedroom and started rummaging through my clothes after she had pulled out a duffle bag from underneath my bed 

“Packing, duh.” she stated with a joking eye-roll, I scoffed slightly as I crossed my arms over my chest and grabbed her wrists 

“Why are you packing?” I pressed and she smiled widely “

“We’re going to the beach house again!” she squealed “Jase’s parents let us use it for the weekend, and all the parents have been informed and they’re cool with it, so we’re going!” 

“Oh…” I muttered, she stopped packing and looked at me as she raised an eyebrow 

“What’s wrong?” she asked as she came towards me and rested her hands on my shoulders

“It’s just… awkward around Chase right now, and the beach house doesn’t really hold the most pleasant memories for me…” I muttered, realisation dawned across her features and she pulled me into a tight hug 

“It’s going to be okay, Ava.” she whispered “It’ll all work out, trust me.”  I let out a light chuckle as I sat beside Ashley

"Why does everyone keep saying that?" I said as I bit my bottom lip "We all know it's not okay, so why am I kidding myself?" I sighed "Chase and I are done for good and there's nothing I can do about it!"

"You don't know that..." she whispered "It's more than obvious that he still loves you and I know you still have feelings for him, so what's there to even do? Break up with your boyfriend and be with your one true love!" she said excitedly

"I can't do that!" I exclaimed "I would seem as if I'm using Daniel as a rebound!" She raised an eyebrow at me as she crossed her arms over her chest

"And isn't that what you're doing?" she laughed "Don't you dare try to deny it!" she said as she raised her hand up at me and I rolled my eyes "You know it's the truth, as hard as it may seem."

"You make me sound like a horrible person." I huffed and she rolled her eyes at me "Am I really that awful?"

"You're not." she answered "You're just heartbroken and lost." she added "I know you'll make the right decision, Ava." she winked at me "And don't do it for them, do it for you."

"Are you girls ready for a roadtrip?!" Jase said excitedly as he grabbed Ashley's bag from her hands as I set mine down beside his car as I waited for him to put the other one's in the car

"Where's Chase?" I asked with a frown as I noticed he was nowhere to be seen

"Two steps behind, as usual." A voice behind me said, causing me to whip around in shock as a startled gasp escaped my lips, he smirked at me and then bent down and grabbed my bag, putting it in Jase's car along with the other ones

"Why so jumpy, Ava?" Jase chuckled as he leaned on his car with an amused expression as Ashely climbed into the passenger seat. OH, GREAT. Thanks a lot guys.

"Shut up and drive." I said as I shoved him slightly, he snickered as he climbed into the driver's seat and started the car, I opened the door and climbed inside, followed by Chase who seemed to noticed just how awkward this was. Oh, god.

"Guys, this is the most quiet I've ever seen you, cat got your tongue?" Jase said with a smirk as he glanced at us from the rearview mirror, I ducked my head as I noticed Chase was looking at me as a slight blush crept onto my cheeks. Even when we weren't dating, he still managed to make me blush. That damn boy!

"Shut up, Jase!" I muttered as he snickered, returning his attention to the road, I noticed that Ashley was laughing quietly in her seat, so I kicked it from behind and she released a louder giggle

"So violent." she joked and I rolled my eyes slightly, this was going to be one long drive.

"So..." Jase said as he rubbed the back of his head awkwardly "who wants to do the sleeping arrangements?" My eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets when I realised what he meant, last time we were here, Chase and I were a couple, so I really had no problem sleeping in the same bed as him. But now?

"Boys in one room and girls in the other?" Ashley suggested and I released a slight gasp of relief, my saviour!

"Come here, Chase my love!" Jase said as he reached for Chase as he made kissing faces and noises, Chase squirmed as he dropped his bags and started to run away from him

"Oh no, get away from me, dude!" he exclaiemd with a panicked expression "I don't swing that way, bro!" he yelled before swinging the door open and escaping towards the beach with Jase trailing behind him, I giggled as I sighed deeply and glanced at Ashley

"Thanks for saving me!" I exclaimed as I dropped my arm on her shoulder and she smirked at me

"Anytime, girlie!" she said as she picked up her bag, I followed as we walked into our bed and set out bags on the bed "Want to go see what the boys are doing?" she said as she raised her eyebrow, I giggled and nodded as we both ran towards the beach and spotted the boys still running alond on the beach "I've got Chase, you get Jase!" she said, we ran in their direction and each one of us tackled one boy, landing on the sand with a thud.

"Holy shit, Ava." Jase groaned "You're skinny but you are one heavy girl." he groaned and I slapped his arm

"Oh shut up!" I exclaimed and he laughed "All muscle, here." I winked and he rolled his eyes playfully

"Yeah right." he said as he rolled off me and dusted off the sand from his legs "You want to see some muscle?" he challenged as he pulled his t-shirt off, revealing his toned chest and six-pack, well. "This is muscle." he said as he flexed his arms in dramatic motions, I giggled as I rolled my eyes playfully

"Be careful, Jase. You might hurt yourself." I warned and he glared at me, causing me to giggle. I turned my attention to the water, where Ashely and Chase were splashing each other, Chase tackled Ashely to the ground and she surfaced with a menacing glare.

"So, what are you going to do?" Jase asked as we walked side-by-side in direction of the water

"What do you mean?" I asked with a frown "About what?"

"The whole Daniel-Ava-Chase love triangle." he stated and I cleared my throat as I ducked my head

"There's nothing to do about it, I'm with Daniel now." I said, trying to keep my voice from wavering

"And does he make you happy?" he asked

"You know he does, what kind of question is that?" I said and he raised his arms in defense

"It's a valid question; Daniel's my friend but Chase is my best friend and I care about you." he said "I just want to understand."

"Understand what?" I asked as I crossed my arms over my chest

"Why you're willing to put yourself through this when you know Chase made you happier than anyone probably ever could." I stopped walking as I stared at him, and I blinked a couple times. He sighed and grabbed my arms as he stared at me intently "Let me just tell you this, if you choose to be with Chase, if Daniel really cares about you, he'll understand." he said seriously "If that is what you're afraid of." he said with a sigh "Anyway, we're here to have fun, so let's just forget about all this drama and do what we came here for." he said as he bent down and nudged his head towards his back

"What?" I laughed

"Come on, get on my back." he smiled, I rolled my eyes playfully as I hopped on his back as he ran towards the water, joining Chase and Ashley who were currently still splashing each other, I glanced at my friendswith a smile as we joked around and played as if we were little kids, wishing this moment could last forever, but we all know perfect moments never last.
