Today was the day; it was the day that Chase’s future would be decided, and it all rested in his hands and how he played today. What a load of pressure, I thought as I stuffed my face with popcorn, mouthful after mouthful. Ashley glanced at me and raised her eyebrow at me, I threw a couple pieces at her face but regretted it since they fell to the floor and were now stained, sigh.

“Slow down there, girlie.” Ashley said as she rubbed her hands together, it was kind of chilly out today. “Eat any faster and you will choke to death, wouldn’t want that now, would we?” she said with a smirk as she glanced at the jersey I was wearing. I had the number 37 on my back with huge white numbers along with the name “HARPER” on my upper back. I received the stink-eye from a couple girls who noticed, but I really didn’t care, I was here for Chase, not for them. I glanced at my surroundings nervously, trying to locate the scouts Chase had told me about, he gave me a brief description of them and I located many of them on the front rows kind of where the cheerleaders were; there were so many of them, from so many good colleges. I just hoped Chase caught their eye, but it was quite obvious he would. Quit overthinking!

“Sorry,” I muttered as I set my popcorn beside me “I’m just crazy nervous.” I said as I bit my bottom lip, Ashley wrapped her arm around me and rubbed my shoulder

“He’ll be fine.” she said reassuringly; I heard the referee blow the whistle and the announcer kept saying a bunch of things I really didn't care about, I saw the boys run out of the locker rooms, Chase was in front of them, his face was determined, and focused. He glanced to our side of the bleachers and ran over, I frowned but smiled when he waved me over

“Ava!” he yelled, Ashley clutched my arm and cheered loudly for him, joined by a couple people who chanted his name also as I quickly walked down the stairs and made my way over to him

“What are you doing? You need to get over there!” I said as I rested my hands on his chest, he clutched my hands tightly and kissed them

“I know, I just needed to see you.” he whispered and I smiled “Nice jersey.” he smirked and I rolled my eyes playfully, all eyes were on us and I felt even more nervous now. Damn football player.

“HARPER!” Coach yelled loudly, Chase glanced at him and chuckled “QUIT FLIRTING AND GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!” He yelled

“Sorry coach!” Chase said, Coach rolled his eyes before going over to the team as the cheerleaders finished their routine “Kiss me.” he whispered and I blinked

“W-What?” I whispered and he grunted

“Just do it!” he whispered, I laughed before grabbing his chin and connecting our lips, I heard a faint yell in the background that chanted

“OH YEAH, GET IT GIRL!” Stupid Ashley. I giggled before wrapping my arms around his neck and pecking his lips one more time, quickly before Coach got madder.

“Good luck.” I whispered “Kick some ass.” I winked before walking back to Ashley, he called my name and I turned around, he brought his hands to his lips and blew me a kiss before winking and running off; I blushed as I sat down next to Ashley who was dancing in her seat

“I thank god for today’s technology.” she said and I eyed her with an eyebrow raised “And for extreme zoom.” she said giddily as she showed me a picture of Chase and I kissing, I gaped at her as I slapped her shoulder “I just couldn’t resist.” she said excitedly “I could wrap the both of you up and eat you!” she said and I rolled my eyes before turning my eyes to the field and whispering,

“Come on Chase, you can do this.”

The game was now over and I was so exhausted I know I would wake up tomorrow completely mute. I had never experienced such a rush in my life, the game was so intense you could practically smell it. The team kicked ass! I think Ashley and I were the ones who cheered the loudest, but I really didn't care; Chase needed our support and he got the best of it. I just hope it was enough for the scouts. I had never seen Chase more determined in the short months I have known him, he was so concentrated and so at ease the same time, it was weird. Ashley and I were now walking up to the team, arms linked as the team cheered loudly in the middle of the field, people were still on the stands cheering but we snuck over to them, just because. Chase’s gaze met mine and instantly brightened as he ran over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist as he lifted me and hugged me tightly as I wrapped my legs around his torso, laughing loudly.
