Chapter 31

"Where is she?!" Jase exclaimed as he peaked his head out from above peoples head, searching for Zoe as I giggled softly at his anxiousness "I don't see her!" he whined and I rolled my eyes slightly "What's with you? I thought you'd be more excited that you get to see your boyfriend." he cooed as he nudged my shoulder, I rolled my eyes playfully as I hugged myself even tighter. Truth to tell, I thought I would be too, but after the things that happened with Chase back home, my head's been a mess and the letter I left him drained me emotionally because I completely poured my heart out in it and tol him everything I needed to and couldn't say in person.

"I am." I breathed "I'm just tired." I whispered and then smiled instantly when I saw Zoe, she waved frantically at us and ran towards us, I opened my arms and she charged towards me as she squealed loudly and then enveloped me in a bone-crushing hug

"Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God!" she squealed into my ear as I laughed loudly as I hugged her back while she danced in circles out of happiness "Promise me you'll never leave me alone again with my idiot brother for so long! All he did was whine and mope about how much he missed you and I was this close" she said as she brought her index and her thumb and squished them together as she squinted with one eye "to stabbing my eyes out." she added and I laughed loudly as she glanced over my shoulder and blushed as she bit her bottom lip as she made her way towards Jase who immediately hugged her, I whipped around and smiled softly when I saw Daniel standing there with his hands in his pockets as he looked at me with a faint smile on his lips

"Hey beautiful," he said as he hugged me and kissed my cheek in the process, I wrapped my arms around his neck and sighed deeply into the crook of his neck "I missed you."

"I missed you, too."

We were now back in my dorm room and Daniel was "helping" me unpack my stuff, and by "helping" I mean sitting on my bed making small talk and asking questions about my trip as I arranged my things in piles so I could wash them later

"Okay, sit down for a minute." he gestured as he patted a spot beside him, I looked at him with a raised eyebrow and dropped the blouse I had in my hand and made my way towards him and sat beside him, eyeing him warily "What's on your mind?" he whispered as he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear "Ever since you got off the plane I could tell something has been bothering you, Zoe noticed it too but didn't say anything." I looked at my hands and fiddled with them as I bit my bottom lip nervously "You saw him, didn't you?"

"W-What?" I stuttered "What are y-you talking about?" I said as I blinked rapidly

"Your ex." he sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck "Zoe told me before we started dating that he was the reason why I should've waited a little bit longer to ask you out." he winced as I stared at him with a frown "That's it, isn't it?"

"Daniel..."

"I'm not mad." he answered and I did a double take as I stared at him in shock

"Okay, now I'm confused." I said as I stood up and paced around the room slightly

"I know I should be, but I'm mostly dissapointed." he shrugged "You're the first girl I ever really liked and it turns out your still in love with your ex." he sighed "Bummer."

"Daniel, I'm sorry." I whispered as I sat beside him again as he stared at his hands and then looked up and half-smiled at me "I never meant to hurt you."

"I know you didn't." he said as he entwined our hands and I gave them a slight squeeze "But if he really is what you want, then go after him." he said "Because if he's not, know that you'll always have me."
