Chapter 15: Heart (Vanessa's POV)

"It was really nice to meet you all," Ronan smiled as he prepared to leave the room but stopped by the door. "Oh, before I forget. My manager has organized a celebration party for the book. The launch party won't be for a few months but this one is just to celebrate finalizing the book. This weekend, Saturday night at hotel Liberty. A formal invitation will be sent out to everybody at the office. Hopefully, I'll see you all there?" 

"Of course," Davidson agreed on everyone's behalf. "See you there." 

Ronan left, the door closing behind him. 

I faced forward, my eyes meeting Aaron's angry ones. I shrugged. 

"Good job, Vanessa," Davidson said. 

"What good job?" John asked. "Sir, if you think our two teams can work together. If you think Aaron and Vanessa can work together, then we should remind you that—" 

"We'll do it," Aaron nodded, cutting him off and looking from me to our CEO. 

"Aaron, are you serious?" Celia asked. 

"I mean... Can you both tolerate each other?" Julian questioned. 

"You both usually butt heads about everything," Zach chimed in from my team. 

"Yeah. Can you both get it together for this project?" Harry asked. 

"I think the two make a better pair than any of you realize," Davidson said, shrugging everybody's concerns off. 

"What about the teams? They don't like us," Jade shrugged, nodding towards his team. 

It was obvious that not just Aaron and me, but even our teams don't get along. They sit on opposite sides of the conference room, for God's sake. 

"Not all of us," Thomas shrugged. "Some people have a problem with others. But we should pull through. This is a book project, right sir?" He turned to Davidson who nodded in agreement. 

He stood up, fixing his suit. "Some people in this room have maturity and others clearly don't. As much as I love seeing you all compete, this is a huge project, it's Ronan's debut. We can't afford to mess up and if the two people best at their jobs hate each other, then so be it. I don't think they really do but regardless of that." 

I rolled my eyes while Aaron sighed softly. 

"We need both of you to put your brains together for this one and work as one team. Can you do it?" 

Aaron and I nodded in sync. 

"Good. Don't let me down. Now for my announcement." He clapped, startling everyone. "I'm sure everybody on this team knows my wife, she's been to the office and at many of our launch parties." 

"Not to mention she's a famous actress, Mr. Davidson, don't humble her," Jade smiled. 

He chuckled softly and then continued. "Two weeks from now, it is our wedding anniversary. Fifty years."
