Hulk, Sam, Bucky, Steve and I gathered around the time machine with the stones.

"Remember, you have to return the stones to the exact moment you got them or you're gonna open up a bunch of nasty alternative realities." Hulk said to Steve.

"Don't worry, Bruce."

"Why do you have to go?" I asked him.

"Sophia..."

"No. Don't Sophia me. Please. Someone else can do it."

"No one can, Soph. You know that. It has to be me. But I'm gonna be okay. I am. Promise." I nodded with tears.

Steve walked to Bucky. "Don't do anything stupid till I get back." He said.

"How can I? You take all the stupid with you." They hugged.

Steve turned back to me and kissed me before going up.

"How long is it gonna take?" Sam asked.

"For him, as long as he needs. For us, five seconds." Bruce answered.

"Ready, Cap?" Steve nodded. "All right, we'll meet you back here, okay?"

"You bet." He put on the halmet.

"Going quantum. Three... two... one." Steve disappeared.

"And returning in five, four, three, two, one." He pressed a button but nothing happened.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Where is he?" Sam asked

"I don't know. He blew right by his time stamp." Bruce answered.

"Bring him back!" I yelled.

"I'm trying."

"Get him the hell back!" I yelled with tears.

"Sophia..." Bucky called me.

I looked over at the lake and saw him laying on the ground.

I ran to him. "Hey." I said.

"I'm so sorry." Steve said weakly. "I tried." I looked down on his stomach, it was covered in blood.

"What happened?" I asked him.

"It... doesn't matter."

"Steve..." Sam came behind me.

"Take the shield." Steve said to Sam. "Take it. You'll do good with it."

"No, no, no, no, no." I mattered. "No! Don't!"

"Sophia. It's okay. It's okay. You're gonna be okay."

"But..."

"Lily is gonna be okay, and you're gonna be okay."

"Please don't. Don't leave me." I cried.

"Come here." I leaned forward and kissed him.

I moved my head back and looked at him. His eyes were closed and he stopped breathing.

I let out a few sobs before Bucky came and pulled me away from his dead body.
