I slip my phone into the pocket of my apron after hitting 'send' on my message, I don't care how big Sparky's ego is, everyone needs someone they can lean on. Even someone whom they may not get along with.

Making my way into the shelter, I'm careful to avoid the pile of dog shit that Sparky didn't. Honestly, I will never forget the stained patch on his ass as he rushed away from me, I will forever be laughing at him for it. I look up and make eye-contact with Lyon as he motions me behind the tables to help him pack up.

"Where did you run off in such a rush? You'd think you had spotted Ryan Reynolds or something with how fast you sped off," Lyon asks.

"First of all, the whole Ryan Reynolds thing is only relatable to straight men... for some reason," I pause, asking myself why that's the case in the first place. "And secondly, I just saw someone from school, that's all." I try to brush him off and begin scooping the excess food into the bin beside me.

"A school friend? Why were they here? Is everything ok?" He grabs my arm and shoots me a concerned look.

"Ok well I never said we were friends... and I honestly don't know, he didn't look in the best shape. But knowing him, he would never tell me anything." I say with an eye roll.

"If he was here we can probably assume he's not ok. You offered him a place to stay didn't you? Because you of all people should understand the kind of position he may be in," Lyon says as he ties off the rubbish bin before throwing it over his shoulder and gesturing for me to follow him.

I follow him outside before replying, "Of course I did, but the chances of him taking the offer are slim."

Lyon sighs, "Well no matter how slim, at least he has the option now." I nod my head at him and hum my agreement. "Ok well did you wanna drive home? The P plates are in the glove box."

"Yeah I will, I want to get a frozen coke from Maccas on the way home and I know you have a colossal fear of drive-thrus," I laugh.

"Listen, it's a very valid fear! Those corners are tight and I don't want to damage the car!" He defends.

"And yet you're fine with me driving through," I roll my eyes.

"Yeah, that's because if you damage it, you're paying for it!" Lyon says gleefully and my jaw drops.

"Oh you're going to have to drive the rest of the way home, I have to go to a team meeting." I tell Lyon as I pull into the soccer field parking lot.

"Ok, let me know what he has in store for you guys this time," Lyon smirks at my misery and I'm sure to slam the car door as I head to the club house.

As soon as I open the door, I'm greeted with Sparky's face. "Where are you headed? The meeting is about to start," I reprimand.

"Seriously? You may be soccer captain, but you are not captain of this bladder," Sparky pushes me aside and I sigh before heading inside. When I look around I notice that Sparky wasn't the only person inside and the whole team just watched that encounter.

"Is something up? Raven seemed tense earlier, and judging by that conversation I'm guessing it's got something to do with you?" Dane asks and Fern butts in.

"When doesn't it have something to do with Robyn?" She chuckles.

"And vice-versa!" Marcus adds.

"Ok that's enough out of you lot! Now that Raven's back from potty-time we can begin," Coach says and everyone falls silent. I turn behind me, to see Sparky closing the door behind him.
