There is a warmth touching my brow and I am unsure of what to do. It is around seven am by my educated guess as it was not too long ago when I checked my phone. After confirming that it was still way too early to be awake, I ducked back under the covers to hide from the early morning frost.
Everything was fine, I was warm and comfortable, then all of a sudden just as I was about to drift off, the couch dipped beside my waist and there was now a hand brushing the hair from my face.
Do I continue to pretend to be sleeping? Do I sit up, what would I even say?
Suddenly something warm dripped onto my face and I tried not to jolt, what the fuck? Lee mumbled a curse before I felt him wiping off whatever had just fallen below my eye. Luckily my predicament about whether or not I should end my sleeping act was solved for me when he sat up off the couch and I heard his footsteps pad away.
I squinted my eyes open slightly, curious to see what warm substance was dripping from him... that sentence is one I never want to repeat.
I'm startled and instantly jump up when I see Lee ducking into the hallway with... blood. There is blood gushing from his face, it has coated his hands as he desperately tries to prevent it from hitting the floor, all while struggling to open the bathroom door with his elbow.
"Lee, what are you doing!" I say as I hurriedly pace over to him and extend a hand to open the door and guide him in with my other.
"I-I don't know! It came out of nowhere," Lee groans, though he doesn't seem to be worried about himself. No, instead he is annoyed. Instead of tending to his nose, now that he was hunched over the sink and didn't have to worry about getting blood on the floor, he pulled at his stained t-shirt and whined. "Come on man, this was my favourite pyjama shirt!"
I look down at his "Tokyo Ghost? Didn't know you watched anime, what are you? A weeb?" I tease as I ball up a fistful of toilet paper and hold it up to his nose as I carefully tip his head back, my other hand holding the back of his neck for support.
I can hear him grumbling to himself angrily before he takes a breath and looks up at me.
"First off, just because I watch anime, doesn't mean that I'm a weeb. And secondly, I could do this myself you know." His voice is a little off since he isn't breathing through his nose. He's pouting slightly, and I grin. It reminds me of an angry little bird, a robin.
Robyn
"Robin," I hear Sparky whisper to himself with a dopey smile and a shiver runs up my back.
"What?" I respond, confused as to why is he calling my name so... lovingly?. It's creeping me out.
"I wasn't talking about you, I was just thinking about how you look like-" He cuts himself off with a smirk. "Nevermind. I was just teasing you about the 'weeb' thing, I watch it too," he says with a soft grin.
I jerk up and whack my face against his hand that is holding up tissue paper, "ow fuck."
"Are you okay?" Sparky exclaims, slightly panicked. "I'm sorry, you moved so quickly I-"
I raise my hand to hold his fist while I take the paper out of his hand with the other and lift it to my face. "It's fine it was my fault, moreover you watch anime?" I'm too shocked over the fact that we share another common interest to notice the distance between us decreasing.
"Well I mean yeah, Tokyo Ghost is one of my favourites too, among many others."
"Like what?" I have to admit, he's snagged my curiosity.
"Taken, Skate the Figure Eight, Deathbook, Moriarty the English Man and Yuki on Air are some of my top rated anime." He lists them off on his fingers.
"I love those too, oh my god! But wait, most of those are BL an-" I cut myself off instantly and freeze. It takes me a few seconds before I slowly look up at him to see him staring at me intensely.
"'Most of them are BL anime'? Is that what you were going to say?" He inquires.
"Well I mean-"
"Robyn! Where are you!" We both jolt violently at the sound of my brother yelling my name loudly while hurriedly stomping towards the bathroom.
Upon entering he drags his eyes over the scene, me sitting on the toilet lid, blood littered everywhere and Sparky in the opposite corner of the room with an unreadable look on his face.
"What is going on? Are you okay? I saw blood on the living room floor and followed the trail to here."
"To be fair, I tried to catch it." I state with as little emotion as I can, still reeling over my conversation with Sparky. I hear a snort come from the corner of the room and dart my gaze towards Sparky, he immediately clams his hand over his face to hide his expression.
"Stop joking around! Why are you bleeding so much?" Lyon is clearly still panicking, he has no idea all of this blood has just been produced from my nose.
"It's fine, don't worry, just a bloody nose." I shrug.
"'Just a bloody nose'? You haven't had a blood nose since I hit you in the face with a skateboard when you were five!" Lyon exclaims.
"Hey why did you have to bring that up?!" I whine and Sparky lets another chuckle out before quickly trying to cover it back up when I shoot him a glare.
"Because I'm your brother and it's my job to bring up any and all of your embarrassing childhood stories in front of any unwilling guests." Lyon justifies.
"Oh trust me I am definitely not unwilling!" Sparky helpfully speaks up with a mischievous grin.
"Good to know, I'll keep that in mind!" Lyon cheerfully responds.
"Please don't," I groan loudly. "I'm bleeding out, remember! Focus on that please!"
"Oh calm down, it's just a bloody nose," Lyon scoffs.
I'm speechless. The discrimination and instability of my eldest brothers thoughts and emotions is honestly criminally cruel.
"So what is your plan for the rest of the day? You two going out or just chilling out here?" Lyon asks and Sparky looks to me for an answer that I don't have just yet.
"Ah...maybe we will just stay here?" I say, unsure.
"If that's the case I'll give you twenty bucks so the two of you can go down to the grocery store down the road and pick up some junk and a frozen pizza for lunch. I'll be out at work for most of the day so you guys have the house to yourself." Was that last bit of information really necessary Lyon? The air is suddenly slightly unsteady and...awkward.
"Sounds good, thanks man." Sparky says with a friendly smile directed at my brother and suddenly I feel my stomach tighten uncomfortably.
"Can everyone get out of the bathroom now, I need to shower!" I suddenly speak a little too loud and they both turn to me with a weird look.
"I mean I'm fine right here," Sparky says and my face heats, its anger. Of course it's anger.
"Well I'm out, but you heard him Robyn," Lyon winks and wolf-whistles as he leaves, shutting the door behind him.
"Out."
"Aw you're no fun," Sparky pouts. I clench my fist and shoot daggers at him with my eyes. "No need to get aggressive little robin I'm leaving," He defends with his hands raised sarcastically.
I actually really like this chapter personally, I think it really showcases their personalities and humor. I'm also just a sucker for the bond between Lyon and Robyn!!
Also everyone loves a good ol' angry flirting between 'enemies'. ;)
QOTD: Did you get all of the anime mentioned in this chapter? Comment them here if you did I'm interested to see. And yes, they are my favs too!!
