The mother and daughter duo sat on the steps of the town gazebo. Rory just waiting for her mother to say something.... anything. She was just silent, painfully silent. Her jaw dropped and shocked. Lorelai's mind was racing, her daughter, her beautiful, brilliant daughter was pregnant and was possibly to be a single mother at 32. Not that she couldn't do it but, it's never what she wanted for her.
"Mom, I need you to say something" Rory looked at her mother fighting tears but mostly terrified
"Just give me one more minute to process" Rory nodded at Lorelai and for a minute their was a pause in conversation
"How?" Lorelai broke the silence
"I think you know how mom"
"Who, what, where-"
"Don't list the five W's, if you list the five W's I don't think I'm gonna make it mom" Lorelai looked at her daughter
"This is not a time for jokes, who says your pregnant... a test? Are we sure those are accurate"
"A doctor, named Cherry"
"This doctors name is cherry, already sounds like a ditz... there's already a doctor?"
"Wow thanks for the support" Rory mumbled
"Rory, I love you hon but I swear I personally taught you sex-ed in seventh grade did that not stick?"
"Mom" Rory groaned
"No, this was irresponsible Rory. I know you, you're a responsible person whose had her life planned out since she was five, this isn't you. I mean does the father know, better yet who is the father?"
"Mom" Rory repeated again defensively
"Is it Peter?" She asked "and he just dumped you?" Her face looked more worried
"No and his name was Paul"
"Jess... is it Jess?" Rory shook her head
"I don't want to talk about it"
"Well this is a grown up conversation, we need to talk about it. If you're going to pop a baby out in 9 months-"
"8 months" Rory corrected "don't worry I know my time" she tried to not get herself worked up
"I just, can't believe that my daughter. My sweet innocent Rory is pregnant"
"Wow I am that much of a disappointment to you, okay Emily" Rory got up and started to walk away
"Wow, low blow" Lorelai scoffed
"Rory come on!" Lorelai called out and she continued walking away and Rory felt her hand grab her
"We don't do this, this is a me and Emily thing. Rory we talk about things, we don't storm off and cut off the communication. We talk it out you and me, we're best friends, sisters... we don't hate each other or avoid we talk Ror" she looked at her mother and her eyes watered
"You're not a disappointment, hey I was a disappointment... you are not. You finished high school, you graduated college and are an incredible writer. Your writing a book Rory and I get to be a" she stopped herself as her face changed
