A Year In The Life: a new beginning

Somebody's being a grinch this morning

Rory woke in the morning to her phone ringing and she groaned reached across the seashell night stands grabbing it "Merry Christmas Ace"

She smiled at the sound of his voice "Merry Christmas" she said tiredly "you woke me up, it's only 7 in the morning" she complained

"Sorry I was just woken from my niece and nephew so I was up"

"So you thought wake me up" she said and sat up in bed looking out at the ocean and paused "so did you tell your sister?"

"I did, she was shocked but very excited. She's always loved you and hated me after we split. Then when I told her about New Hampshire she scolded me for losing you again so"

"So she doesn't want to kick my ass?"

"She does not want to kick you ass" he said chuckling "she was begging for your number and wants to take you shopping"

"That would not be a wise idea" Rory said "your sister buys everything in sight, she's said I was her favorite person to shop with but that's because I agree with everything... accept a few things" Rory said

"Well she wants you to come for dinner sometime"

"Now is that wise? You remember the first and last dinner I went to with your family and I was shocked that your mom wasn't snarky to me that weekend I stayed at the vineyard with them"

"They won't be there, just honor Josh and her two kids Charlotte and Harrison"

"But won't her kids hate me, I mean they just had a different aunt and now I'm coming in as this stranger"

"Odette hated Honors kids, she's not a kid person. But Honors kids didn't like her either and Charlotte was not afraid to show it" Logan smiled

"Isn't that a red flag that she hated your niece a nephew or are they gremlins"

"They are not gremlins, Honor herself didn't like Odette either she hated all of that mess"

"Oh so did I" Rory said

"Huh, I wouldn't have thought" he joked "so does Emily Gilmore know, because I was relieved you answered this morning and didn't have to send in the troops on Christmas"

"She's in the know and knows your the father... she was shocked, not mad and well we were all horrified of how calm she was... she was even excited"

"Are we talking about the same woman?"

"She wants to have dinner with us both as a celebration? We do don't have to" Rory added

"She said she would've loved to have you here for Christmas and after her 3rd peppermint martini we tucked her into bed"

"Wow Emily Gilmore had quite the night for herself"

"We lost track of how many cups of special eggnog she'd drank, she's gonna have a long day today" Rory got out of bed admiring the ocean placing a hand on her small bump that was shown through her red waffled knitted shirt slightly

Logan heard a knock at his door and it was his niece "alright I have to let you go my niece is desperate to go downstairs"

"I won't keep you, merry Christmas and tell Honor I say hello" she ended the line and went back into her bed snuggling into the duvet

But soon a loud bang at the door came "huh?" Rory said sitting up "oh god what's happening" she said tired

"It's me!"

"Who's you!" Rory said

"Your mother, your life giver, your sister, your tormentor!" Rory groaned as her mom entered the room
