Chapter 20

Just another night

Shortly after our... moment, I leave through Michael's window so William doesn't find me.

I hurry towards my house, dreading the fact that I have to get ready for another night. However, I can't wipe the smile off my face.

I've not had a single moment of sleep, yet I'm wide awake.

Once I get in, I take a quick shower and change into my other uniform. Since I left my car in the car park, I have to walk all the way there. Even Michael doesn't know where I live so he can't pick me up.

The clock ticks by pretty quickly and soon enough, it is time to start my next night shift.

I walk all the way to the pizzeria, making sure to keep an eye out just in case anything suspicious is around me.

"Oh good! You made it. I was beginning to think you wouldn't show up after you ran away in such a hurry this morning." My employer smiles.

"Oh... right. Sorry about that. I just got a bit spooked that's all. Nothing to worry about." I lie, forcing a smile on my face.

The guy smiles, gesturing for me to follow him.

"So I assume you already know Mike." He says, walking into the security office.

Michael looks up at me and I can see a visible blush begin to form on his cheeks.

"Yeah, we've met." I smile, teasing Michael but can't deny that I'm blushing too.

His smile gives me butterflies and his touch makes me feel as if I am on cloud 9. He is addicting.

"So tonight is gonna be the usual. Check the cams, take good care of this place and of course, make sure no one gets inside." The guy says before walking away without another word.

Michael and I sit in silence for a moment. It's kind of an awkward silence but I soon decide to speak up.

"Michael I'm sorry. I shouldn't have-"

"No!" He interrupts me. Quite quickly if I add. "You don't have to apologise. At least you had the guts to do what I couldn't do 5 years ago."

At his words, my heart explodes.

We stare at each other for a moment before we start leaning in. But as we are a meer 2 inches apart, a heavy pair of footsteps come rushing down the hall.

Michael quickly moves away and slams his hand down on the door. Foxy bangs on the door, trying to get to us.

"It's okay Y/N. I won't let anything get to you. Not as long as I am here." Michael places both his hands on each side of my face.

I lean into his touch, almost forgetting that 4 animatronics are after us.

Throughout the night, the animatronics come to our office but we always manage to lock them out.

I look at the desk in front of us, noticing that the light goes dim for a moment.

"Shit." My heart drops.

"What is it? Y/N, what's wrong?" Michael rushes to stand beside me.

"We are only on 4% power. What time is it?" I ask.

Michael looks over to the clock and so do I.

5:49am.

"We're not gonna make it."

As I say this, Michael flips down the camera and turns off the desk fan.

"Y/N, listen to me okay? We will make it through tonight. We don't have much time left but we can make it." Michael gives me a small smile.

"Promise?"

"I promise."

Two minutes pass and we are left with 3% power.

Three minutes pass and we are left with 2% power.

"This is cutting it a little bit close." I say to Michael who has a look of determination on his face.

"It will hold out for a little longer. It has to." He replies.

Soon enough, we are left with only 1% power. The generators of this old place struggle to keep running and not long after, they give up.

The lights turn off and so do the monitors. Michael and I are left in complete darkness.

I feel a hand grab mine, pulling me under the desk.

"We're gonna be okay." Michael whispers to me, wrapping me in his arms tightly.

In the doorway, I hear footsteps stop and strangely enough... breathing?

Suddenly, the face of Freddy Fazbear begins to glow as his eyes flicker on and off as music starts to play.

Michael's grip on me tightens and I lean into him for comfort.

Freddy keeps playing his song for another 20 seconds but then it stops. Everything stops. His music, his flashing lights and footsteps.

I let out a shaky breath, burying my face into Michael's shoulder.

Thankfully, the clock hits 6am and the normal power turns back on. Freddy is no longer in the doorway and we are free to leave.

"Hey, it's okay. We are safe. We made it." Michael cups my cheeks, smiling at me.

Without thinking, I kiss him as if it would be the last thing I ever do. He kisses back, smiling into it as he wraps his arms around me, bringing me even closer. If that is even possible.

When we pull away, we both smile.

"Come on. We have to clock out for the day." He gives me a cheeky smile, sliding out from under the desk.

I do the same, following him out of the office.

Who knows what tomorrow will hold.
