It was fairly warm out —Roughly 92 degrees— when I had made the decision of going out for a walk to stretch my sore legs.
I wore a simple black shirt along with a pair of black cargo pants that where a shade lighter, they were held up by a dark grey belt. I really had a thing for dark colors if you couldn't already tell.
I had recently moved into the city of Tokyo with hopes of finding good adventures as I heard this is where all the action goes down. I was currently crashing at a newly rented apartment, it was rather on the expensive side, but that was no problem for someone like me.
"Ahh, everything is so nice right now" I spoke to nobody in particular as I made my way down the roads, getting accustomed to them.
"The weather is so nice. . . . Im sure even Anabeth would enjoy it. . . ." It had been 4 years since that night. I always tried not to think about it, but no matter what I did, I always found myself think back to it.
It was simply horrible just thinking about it.
Although. . .
Even back then there was some light at the end of the dark and long tunnel, just not the way you would imagine.

Darkness. . . that's all there was. . . all I could see. . . all I could feel. . .
Could this perhaps be what heaven looks like? No. . . It couldn't possibly be that, I mean I was never the best kid growing up and I'm not really religious so I don't know why I had thought that.
Perhaps this is simply what becomes of one in the afterlife?
Definitely a much better guess than what I had previously thought of. Will this really be it? Floating about in complete darkness for the rest of eternity?
I had never truly believed in reincarnation so I had no hopes such as being reborn into a wealthy family or being gifted power or any trivial matters such as those.
Although if I had to choose...
I would want some reading material instead.
「This place. . . It's awfully soothing. Very quiet, very peaceful. . . Very lonely」
Immediately after thinking that, the darkness around me had begun to warp to a singular point before letting out a bright glow, so bright I would have gone blind had I not covered my eyes.
Once the glow had died down I slowly opened my eyes and began to scan my new surroundings. I had no idea what I could describe this to be.
No life could be seen no matter where you looked. Black flames burned furiously across this empty white void.
