Colours faded away, a void of nothingness and darkness. Colours popped back up. A ratified cluster of soldiers amongst soot and clouds. Theodore couldn't keep his eyes open, strained as they were; he could not walk. Having to be dragged, his near open wound admitting mouthfuls of mud, shit, and insects. A feast of dead flesh, and warm blood.
Kevin didn't have much luck either: beaten, kicked, bruised, clubbed. Brought to his splintered knees.
A soldier approached them both. He calmly asked them, "What were you doing here?"
Kevin on the verge of tears, "We were lost man. We don't know where we are, or where our base is."
"Tell me where the US troops are moving."
Theodore replied, half-dazed, "We've been lost for like a week. And we are privates anyway."
The soldier turned, revealing his rank. He walked slowly to Kevin and paused.
"I know you. あなたは刑務所から脱出したろくでなしです."
"Wh-What?" Kevin whimpered down.
The soldier pulled out his pistol and pointed it at his head, "Tell me everything you know. Or I'll blow your Goddamm head off."
"I don't know anything! Listen, I've been lost for like a week!"
The soldier smacked his head and re-aimed.
"あなたをファック!"
The air crumbled and splintered at a ghostly sound. The nearby birds fluttered away.
The soldier's head, half was blown off, twitched his mouth as he fell. Kevin speechless turned his head to a scream.
"NU!" Juels rushed out of the forest. His rifle already killing another Japanese soldier.
John rushed out spraying lead at the crowd of stunned soldiers. Juels aimed his gun at the prison camp as a soldier ran out. He fired again and checked the watchtowers. Empty. Anker did his work.
A shriek pitched out with the shattering of glass as a soldier fell from 3 stories up. Anker looked down and then saw the group. Putting his thumb up, he signalled that it was clear. He then made his way down with his suppressed MP-40.
"You know it's a pain to keep this gun loaded right? Especially as we are in the Pacific," He laughed.
"You wanted to bring it," John objected.
Juels untied the prisoners and began treating Theodore's wound. John reached down to help as Anker helped Kevin.
Kevin, in near shock, asked, "What? how did you find us?"
"We didn't," Juels replied, "You are just lucky."
"Lucky eh?" Theodore winced, "I should play the fucking lottery."
"Anker hold his legs, we need to get inside," Juels ordered.
They carefully walked inside a building, tables were scattered everywhere as rows of dead Japanese soldiers with puddles of blood dripped to the hard wooden floor. Theodore got placed on an empty table as Juels injected him with morphine and dowsed his bandages with alcohol.
Kevin looked around the silent building, unsure of what it was supposed to be. Juels remarked, "Looks like they were about to evacuate in a day or two. You think we'd find anything here?"
"Nah, I did a quick search. Can't find anything apart from half-completed experiments and dead prisoners."
"Where is the rest?" Kevin curiously asked.
