So I'll try to break it down for ya: The setting is based on the manga Vampire Knight and it's a world where vampires exist. I think of them as 'more realistic vampires' where they don't burn in the sunlight, they're just nocturnal, and they can eat normal food but do need blood to survive. Vampires aren't born with fangs so when they're young they absorb energy, or life force, and can't properly digest something as strong as blood until they get their fangs in around puberty years. They don't have to drink just human blood and tend to crave to blood of someone they love, they don't live forever, except for the purebloods, and there are rankings:

The lower the rankings, the more human ancestry there is. The purebloods, level A, are the rarest and most powerful; they have powers and are thought of as royalty. The Level B vampires, aka Aristocrats, do tend to have a unique power to them and have longer lifespans than humans; it's not uncommon for them to be related in some kind of way to a pureblood. Level C are common vampires and they don't have any powers. Their lives are a bit longer than the average human life but not as long as an aristocrats' and they don't have any special abilities, just a bit stronger and quicker than humans. Level D are vampires who used to be human where they typically, with time, become Level E vampires who are rogue vampires blinded by their thirst for blood and can be very dangerous. There are also vampire hunters and a whole ass association. Hope this makes sense, I will also explain things as we go along. Enjoy~
