Chapter Eight

Looking at the pack line with my suitcases I sighed while taking a step into the line, and instantly felt a connection with everyone there. Everyone was chirping about who just came into the pack and suddenly two of the Scout's came running towards me in their wolf form. Raising an eyebrow they shifted back to themselves and smiled at me, "Gipsy, you're back!" they exclaimed happily. Smiling back at them we continued to walk a bit further into the pack until they had to go back, "Some rogues got into the pack and killed someone." they said a bit nervously.

Looking at them I sensed my anger rising a bit, "What?"

"They killed Peter Flame, the blind guy... it was very sudden in the middle of the night."

"I promised his mother before she died that he'd be under my protection! You all failed at that by not doing your scouting duty!" I yelled at them while snarling at them. Their demeanor changed to a smaller one as I let myself look taller than them.

"W-We're sorry, Miss Gipsy, it won't happen again."

Standing face to face with them I grabbed them both by the back of the head and forcefully made them kneel so they're much smaller than me, "It better not happen again." I growled towards them and they grabbed my legs in a way of being smaller and respectful to me. Shoving them off I dismissed them, "Don't disappoint me again."

Walking back to my house I rolled my eyes and put my suitcases back in my room, "How does everything goes to shit when we leave. Jack came back a couple days ago so it doesn't make since why he wouldn't have caught them yesterday since this happened while all of us were gone."

------

A couple hours later me and Jack were at his kitchen table looking over a map of our area to where the rogues could've been coming from, "Could they be coming from this area?" he circled an area in red.

"That's where the waterfalls are, and our parents have checked behind that waterfall a thousand times. They didn't see anything." I shrugged at Jack while sitting back on my chair.

"But they never checked under the lake," he said while looking at me, "What if the rogues that have been attacking us for years have been going under the lake?"

"That... would make sense. They go under the lake and we can't sniff them out. Their trails always have stopped at the lake." I beamed at Jack while he looked proud of himself for figuring it out. His face lightened as he stood up and went to the front door grabbing the woman that came in. He hugged her seemingly like taking the life out of her while squeezing, she laughed while shoving him off.

"Gipsy, this is Caroline. Caroline, this is my friend Gipsy, the current Beta of this pack." the soft looking girl smiled at me and hugged me closely. Oh my goodness. Awkwardly hugging her back I smiled at her slightly.

"Jack, we should invite her to the house warming party!" she jumped up and down towards him and you could see his eyes move from her bouncing chest to her eyes in a war as to which he should be staring at.

Biting my lip to keep in the laughter, she smacked his arm, "O-Of course, Caroline. Gipsy, we finished building a house on some of the open territory near the East end of the territory."

Raising an eyebrow I whistled, "Wow, you were gone a day after we arrived in Paris and you built a house in about a week? Jesus Christ."

Shrugging his shoulders he kissed Caroline's cheek, "I bartered with the spellcasters to get it done. You know how they can make things happen instantly."

I nodded my head and forgot about how other creatures such as witches and vampires exist with us and yet humans are none the wiser. Grabbing my phone I excused myself and left them two alone, which turned to be a good idea considering I started hearing them making certain... noises. Oh my goodness.

Walking into my house I sat down and dialed up Seth telling him to come over since I was home. Soon enough he came waltzing in the door and hugged me tightly like he wasn't ever going to see me again, "It's about damn time you came back, I was missing you."

Smiling at him I ruffled his hair, "I missed you too. How was school?"

He shrugged and groaned as he sat back against the back of the coach, "Fucking exhausting. I cannot believe it is senior year and here I am doing the most to graduate and you are doing the least and you get to go on vacation!"

Chuckling I shrugged my shoulders and poked him in the chest, "While, mister sour, I in fact do my work and it was an important event to go to."

"Gipsy," he warned, "Your dad pays for your grades so you're top of the class."

I gasped at him and faked a wane, "I do not! I get those with pure skills."

Snorting he pushed my face and have me fall into the coach cushions. I was actually completely and utterly happy right now while talking and having fun with Seth. I could tell he had a crush on me, but I couldn't ever bring it up because I didn't want to hurt his feelings at all.
