Chapter Twenty-Two
Sighing I frustratedly slapped the covers in Jax's bed as I was trying to find some sense of comfort here to go to sleep. I had a very long day and even after taking a shower with some lavender to help calm me down, it still wasn't enough without Jax here to help me. Grumbling I got up and got dressed into casual clothes that consisted of a baggy T-shirt and a pair of black sweats accompanied with a pair of slip-ons and after throwing my hair up into a messy bun I walked out of his room. No sleep. No sleep for me! God, what does it take to get some good sleep around here?
Walking to the library I decided that make a book would help me to get tired and hopefully fall asleep before I have to be at the hospital to greet Jax. Walking along the many shelves lined up among the walls there was a certain book that peeked my interest that look very, very worn. Looking at the spine of the book there was the title, Werewolves and Vampires, what an interesting title. Vampires and werewolves have nothing in common with each other and yet they write a book about it? Grabbing it off the shelf I head to my reading nook and flip it open, Facts about Werewolves and Vampires and the Affects, but the affects of what? My curiosity got the best of me and I skimmed through the first several of chapters on werewolves and deciding to skip it I went to the vampire part of the book which was seemingly interesting. They could teleport, read minds, have an immense amount of strength, and the sun doesn't hurt them like one would think. It's more of a hindrance than anything else, it didn't turn them to ash, only hurt their abilities.
Flipping through more of the chapters I made it to the after affects chapter and realized after reading the first few lines, it is what happens if these two beings decide to have sired a child. Why would anyone want to do that? We have been sworn enemies to the end of time and yet people still decide to fall in love with their enemies? If the child gives into the werewolf side of their genes, sooner or later their wolf will fall out of touch and give into the vampire side for the rest of eternity. Yikes. Whereas, if the child gives into the vampire side of themselves, the wolf will emerge and kill themselves out of the blood lust wolves have for their natural sworn enemy. Thankfully, this only happens once in a century as it tends to skip generations. I feel sorry for the poor soul who gets this coming to them.
Yawning, I closed the book and took a nap right on the soft cushion of my reading nook.

Walking down to the infirmary, it was nice to be amongst the busy workers once again. I did quite like their company when they were brave enough to talk back to me and continue a conversation. Getting to the infirmary, I noticed Doctor Sun talking to one of the nurses that worked, seemingly flirting with her as he sported a winning smile. She smiled back and nodded gleefully towards him. It's a date. Sidling up beside Doctor Sun I started to be aware of the pungent odor that was coming from him.
"Good God, Doctor Sun, did you forget to wear deodorant this morning?"
His face fell as he looked at me, "Ah, Gipsy! Clever as ever... and no I did not forget to wear deodorant this morning. I just forgot my daily potion," he grumbled the last part as if to himself.
"Daily potion, sir?"
He sighed, "Yes, daily potion, madam. I am over four-hundred years old, and I am a vampire, unfortunately."
I gasped at the news, he did not have a stench about him this entire time until now, "A vampire? Well, how come I don't want to kill you right now? And your odor, I have never smelled it before until now?"
"Oh, that whole vampire and werewolf thing has been over for centuries. Long before I popped out of the womb actually, but the odor is still an after affect. I probably smell distinctly horrible whereas you werewolves smell like wet dog. Not a too terrible smell, actually."
"Wait, you're telling me the feud has been over for more than four-hundred years?"
"Yes, and the natural instinct for werewolves to kill us has almost one-hundred percent been eliminated. The blood lust instinct has a ninety-eight percent of not being produced anymore. If it is, we can just give you a potion to eliminate it ourselves. Isn't it fascinating?"
Blinking back words of shock of my revelation, it just gives into how old that book I read earlier was, "It is, Sun, now can I go see Jax?"
"Oh, yes! He might be up, he has been in and out of it all morning so be gentle."
He let me go to his room, and as I opened the door, he wasn't in bed. Now, that's strange. Where the hell is he? Walking to his bed, a flush sounded from the connected bathroom and after a jump from me he walked out while rubbing his eyes. His signature trait. After squealing I jumped towards him and wrapped my arms around him in a bone crushing hug.
"Oh my goodness, Gipsy, you're going to kill me for real this time," he squeezed me back. After letting him go I sniffled feeling a tear run down my cheek, "Don't cry, love, it was only a minor setback."
"A minor setback? You were damn near dead, Jax! I almost lost you, thank God I found you when I did on that field or who knows what would have happened."
"I am fine, love, I promise. Now, how is that baby of mine in there?"
"Ah, she's fine. Growing expectedly and happy as a clam since I'm feeding her so much."
Suddenly, Doctor Sun burst through the door, "Rogues at the north border!"
Me and Jax looked at one another and sprinted off to the direction of the Rogues. When we got there, no one was attacking, there was no fire being burned and no blood being spilt. What do they want? Me, no doubt. Or Jax to play in some game of theirs, but the person at the border was no someone I would expect to see. Jess was standing there with someone next to her I didn't quite know. Instead of her usual hippie aesthetic she usually sported, it was now replaced with skin tight clothes that accentuated her features such as her breasts and hips. Walking up to Jess and the man beside her we looked at each other.
"Well, hello, Gipsy. I see you've made a lovely home here."
"Jess, what are you doing? With the Rogues no less."
"I am their leader. I am the morning and evening star to these lovely people and they will do whatever I want of them."
"You are no God, Jess. You are but a simple werewolf who has lost her way."
"Lost my way, Gipsy? No, you seem to have lost yours with your Vampire genes scrambling your mind."
"I am no hybrid, Jess. What a foolish idea."
She chuckled at me and took a large step towards me and Jax, "I'm the fool? Why am I the fool when you have clearly not been communicating with yourself. Better yet, you could have gone to a witch to figure out who you are, but you didn't. I took it upon myself to go find one and see what you truly are, and that is a hybrid. Your grandmother fell in love with a vampire, what a scandal. A werewolf in love with a vampire and had your father and then your father sired you, and yet it simply skipped him and landed on you. Tragic."
"What do you want, Jess?"
"Simple, I want him," she pointed at Jax and I scoffed at her demand.
"That's funny. You're not getting him."
"Watch me," she whistled loudly and as soon as I knew it, I felt a sting in my neck and when I pulled on the object that was penetrating it my vision went black.
