Chapter Twenty-Nine
Jax's POV.
I was waiting outside in the waiting area while Doctor Sun helped out Gipsy while she was giving birth. Gulping down my anxiety towards the situation I begged my wolf to calm down while he was growling in my head. His anger, and worry was coating me and I felt like I couldn't breathe while he paced in around while huffing and puffing. I couldn't calm down, knowing that the last I saw Gipsy before I started to freak out was her dying in my arms. 'Jax, I can't hear...I can't breathe' was on repeat and my wolf growled, snapping at me once more for thinking of her gasping and overly sweating. A scream penetrated the walls of the small hospital and I jumped up from the chair, running over to the door that's keeping me from Gipsy's room and I put my ear against the wooden door. Trying to listen in on the whole thing, I feel like a Peeping Tom... ugh. Everything soon went quiet as I sucked in a breath. Please, you'll be okay. The Moon Goddess cannot do this to me right now. I've been alive for way too long for me to not have my mate, but a child for the rest of my life.
Backing away from the door I paced outside of the room, when finally Doctor Sun opened the door, wiping off his hands with a small smile, "She's stable and so did your son. Gipsy is resting right now, she went through a lot. Lost a lot of blood, and your son is being taken care of by my team of nurses right now," he put a hand on my shoulder and sighed, "You need to find the Great White right now."
My eyes darkened as I looked to him, "I'm sorry?"
"Gipsy won't live much longer without his blood. She is stable for now, but not for long. And your son... well, he looks like he could suck the blood out of you."
I gulped and let go of my shaky breath, "Okay. I will do whatever it takes. I promise you that, I promise her that."
Doctor Sun patted my arm and I huffed a sigh looking down towards my feet, "He's in the gardens," Sun whispered those words to me and I looked at him with confusion.
"What do you mean, 'he's in the gardens'? I haven't been able to track him down for days."
He sighed and pointed towards the door, "Go. He won't wait all day, Jax."
I choked on the air that was waving in my lungs and I bolted out of the room, going up the stairs and towards the gardens to look for this man. What if he declines? Refuses to save Gipsy's life because of how much of a monster I am or the monster she claims that she is? My breathing becoming labored I bit on my tongue until I could taste the metallic taste. Calm down, Jax, it's not the end of the world. If Gipsy dies it is the end of the world, Jax. Oh my god, not right now. Now I'm talking to myself? Goddess help me.
Finally, placing my feet in front of the double glass doors I rolled up my sleeves, fixed my buttons, and smoothed down my hair. Goddess, I am so nervous right now. Okay, okay, it's alright, Jax. You're just about a hundred-years-old and your palms are sweating like you're about to go on another first date. Or your first kiss. Goddess, that girl was so tongue-y, couldn't even relax and enjoy the kiss in the first place... wait, what was I doing again? Oh, yeah, saving my wife's life for Christ's sake. Turning the handles, I gently opened the door, gliding my feet inside so I can look around the area.
He sat on a bench, next to the red roses I planted looking at each one like it was the most precious thing on the Earth. His hair was so white, it was honestly blinding, but his skin was olive and his eyes, a piercing blue like the Caspian sea. He was on the leaner side of his build, but still looked good considering how old this man must be. Gulping down, I closed the door and slowly stalked towards him. Sitting down next to him I put out my hand slowly, "Hello, sir--"
"Caspian."
"Caspian? Like the sea?"
"Yes, like the sea, son. I know you've noticed my eyes, much like everyone else on this God forsaken planet."
"I'm sorry, sir, I didn't mean to stare. I was observing."
"Observing is fine, son, and don't you forget that. Now, I am here because Malcolm called me."
"Malcolm? You mean Doctor Sun?"
"Ah, yes, I forgot he went to med school a long time ago... Well, his human name is Malcolm, and I owed him a favor so I came as quick as I could."
"Oh, yes, sir-- I mean, Caspian, it's because my wife--my mate is in a deep amount of trouble and-"
"I came here in the middle of a soon-to-be war because of your mate? What? You couldn't keep her safe with your all godly Moon Goddess lineage?" he scoffed towards my direction.
Why, the nerve of this guy, "Look, Caspian, it's not my fault her grandmother decided to get freaky with a vampire."
This caused his left eyebrow to quirk up towards me and his eyes went to me, "Say that again?"
"I mean, Gipsy is slowly conforming into a vampire and my son is also that and it is killing her. Her wolf is almost gone, won't talk to her and she can hardly shift as it is. I'm surprised she lasted this long through her pregnancy if I'll be honest with you."
Caspian shifted on the bench and faced more towards me than before, put his hand on my knee and looked at me, "Listen, sport, I am very, very old and my time here is coming to an end. Maybe not now, but soon. If I give your mate, your wife, my blood it will cure her of vampirism turning her back to her previous state. Now, your boy, he has to be fed my blood until he is six months old; that should be enough of it to cleanse him completely. Lastly, going back to me being old, I need your next offspring to be the next Great White."
"I'm sorry?" it's like I couldn't hear him properly. The next?
"Yes, son, I need your next child to be the Great White."
"H-how do you want me to do that, Caspian?"
"It's simple, really. Whenever Gipsy as my blood she will be part of me. Now, the last thing, and this is the most important, is that whenever Gipsy is pregnant she will have to ingest some more of it; or have it given to her intravenously."
"That's it? How would I even begin to tell my future child they have to go through this?"
"Easy, I will leave a very thorough will and instructions. I have every single book, or journal, or what have you that has been passed down through the generations to them. Including my book, so they will know what to do."
I nodded my head and sighed, "Alright, I agree to your terms."
Caspian shined his white teeth and held out his hand, "Partners then."
I grabbed his hand firmly and we shook.
"Partners."
