He [Ricky] takes in a shaky breath, "I promise..."

"What's wrong?", I [Gina] ask.

Gina's pov

"EJ...are you hiding something from me?", I ask, a hint of anger rising in my tone.

He stays silent, practically answering my question right then and there. I let out a sharp and angry breath, crossing my arms and dragging him by his arm into a room away from the crowds.

"Gi—"

"No. What's going on? What're you being so secretive about?", I ask, demanding.

He continues this silence and stares at me. I let out another sigh and then I notice his mouth open.

"It's about Nini.", he says and I feel my heart skip a beat.

"W-what about Nini?", I question while nervously chuckling.

"Gina we kept it a secret for a reason—", he mentions, "Do you really want to know?"

"Yes...yes EJ. I do want to know what's going on with my best friend.", I tell him.

He bites his lip, "She's at risk of dying."

My eyes shoot wide open and my heart drops into my stomach.

"How?!", I exclaim, "W-why?!"

"The daggers we're poisoned with the most deadly plant to werewolves. And it's spreading through her.", he explains.

"I-is she gonna be okay? What are we doing to help her?!", I rattle off questions, feeling my world spinning now.

Ricky's pov

I stand in the kitchen at the Mikalson's house in pure silence. It was 2 in the morning and I felt wide awake, scared to shut my eyes.

My head turns at the sound of rustling. I stare at the living room behind me, my eyes scanning back and forth.

"Ricky?"

I turn to the side and see Elizabeth walking out of their bedroom. I let out a sigh of relief and relax again.

"Sorry...did I wake you?", I whisper.

She shakes her head, "I was just coming to get some water. What are you doing awake?"

I shrug, sighing, "Can't go to sleep."

"Nerves?", she queries.

I have an unsure look on my face while I nod, sticking my hands in my hoodie pocket. She grabs her glass of water and stands in the kitchen with me.

"We're not going to let her die.", she speaks, "I promise we're doing everything we can."

The words roll off her tongue and my throat goes tight. Hearing people say the words really makes it sink in even more. It doesn't feel real nor does it feel right. My eyes sting and I constantly blink in attempt to hold tears back.
