"The compass— it could be gone!", she [Nini] shouts in anger while her tears fall.

Nini's pov

My blood boils all throughout my veins and my breathing gets choppy. I couldn't believe it.

My dad just straight up calls me after practically killing me at that party, to tell me he sold the house which probably held the one thing we needed in order to fix everything.

My mind felt like it was spinning and all over the place. My vision was blurry from all the tears building up in my eyes.

"Neens—", I hear his soft voice.

I take a gulp and turn to look at him. I blink and send the flood of tears down my face. His thumb reaches up and brushes away the wetness.

"It's okay...", he says, "We'll figure it all out."

I sniffle, "B-but it's not okay! The compass—"

"Nini...stop. Forget the compass right now, you're the first priority okay?"

Through all the anger, my heart seems to melt and warm up at the sound of his sentences.

"Just take a breath and relax. Let's get home.", he suggests.

I nod and wipe my eyes with the sleeve of my hoodie. He takes my backpack off the floor and puts one strap on his shoulder while his backpack strap was on the other. He holds my hand and we walk into the almost empty parking lot.

EJ's pov

"She won't answer her phone!", Gina complains, pacing in my bedroom.

"Gi don't force it. If something happened then- we should give her time.", I tell her, sitting on my bed.

"Yeah but I'm her best friend. I need to be there for her—", she argues.

"She has Ricky...and he'll probably keep us updated.", I respond.

She falls onto my bed with a groan, "I've been replaced."

I chuckle a little at her, "You're so dramatic."

She rolls her eyes, sitting up, "Am not!"

"Whatever you say...", I reply and she lightly smacks my back.

The room goes quiet and she takes a breath, opening her mouth to talk again.

"Let's do some homework.", she suggests.

I give her a slightly disgusted look and she smacks my back again.

Ricky's pov

We walk through the door of my house and I follow her up the stairs. She immediately walks into my bedroom and collapses on my bed, already covering herself in the bedsheets.

I drop our backpacks by my desk before going over and sitting on my bed next to her. I lean my back against the headboard and she stays lying down. She quickly puts her head on my lower chest, covering her face up with the bedsheets still. My hand sits on her back, gently rubbing up and down.

"Baby?", I quietly say, not trying to startle her.

She just hums and doesn't lift her head. I bite my bottom lip a little, continuing to rub her back before she eventually positions her head so she's resting it on my chest but looking at me.
