16. going home

I woke up in an empty bed. I was in the hospital still and it was dark outside. I checked my phone and it showed that is was 12:14. I decided to wander around the hospital looking for food. I found the cafeteria. I saw someone sitting in the back on the phone with someone. I could tell it was a guy because of how he spoke. I walked forward to him to get a better look at who he was.

I saw him.

"Nick?"

"Emily? What are you doing down here? You should be in bed."

"I could say the same thing to you. Who are you talking to?"

I could hear him sniffling as if he had been crying.

"No one. Go away."

"NIck who are you talking to?"

"Leave me alone!"

I grabbed the phone from him.

"Hello? Who is this?"

"This is Oscar. I am a uhhh friend of Nick's."

I have never heard Nick talk about Alex before.

"How do you know my brother?"

"Your brother? He's my brother."

I could tell I was getting pale, Nick looked at me like he was scared.

"Hello? Hello?"

"Yea sorry I'm here. So you're Nicks's brother?"

"Yea, he was adopted when he was born. Our mom died and our dad was in no condition to raise an infant, he could barely take care of me. I never knew who he was adopted too, until this year when I turned 18 and I tried to find out. "

I was speechless. I didn't know what to say. My brother wasn't my brother?

"Where do you live? I'm sure Nick would love to meet you."

"I am in LA right now working, but I live in Sweden."

"Working at 18? What is your job?"

"I am in a band."

"A band? What band?"

By then I had tried to put the pieces together.

"The Fooo Conspiracy."

"Oscar?"

"Yea? "

"Its Emily."

"Emily!? As in Felix's Emily?"

"Yea..."

"Wait are you guys at the hospital still?"

"Yea. I'm sure Nick would love to meet you."

"Yea ok. I'm on my way. Is Felix there by any chance?"

"I do not know actually."

"Ok well I'll try calling him. Tell Nick I am on my way."

"I will"

We hung up and I gave Nick back his phone.

"Oscar is coming to meet you."

"Wait what?"

"Yea turns out he is Felix's best friend and in the same band."

"What? That is awesome!!"

"Yea it is. Hey Nick? Why didn't you tell me about Oscar?"

"I thought you would have been mad that I am not your brother."

" I love you more than anything and we grew up together. We are siblings but you and Oscar are brothers. I would have been fine with that. Does mom and dad know you have been talking to Oscar?"

"No. No one knows about that but you."

"Ok, well you might want to tell mom and dad."

"I will sometime."

"Ok good."

I turn to walk back out and headed back up to bed. I found Felix walking around.

"Hey? what are you doing up?"

"I was walking around looking for food then say Nick and talked with him....."

"Oh.. what about, if I may ask?"

"uhh he was." ... my phone started to ring. It was Oscar.

"Sorry hold on."

I answered.

"Hey whats up?"

"Did you tell Felix?"

"No I was actually about to when you called."

"Please don't tell him."

"Why not?"

"Just because. Please don't for me?"

"Okay I won't."

We hung up and I walked back over to Felix.

"Sorry that was..... Nick he just wanted me to know that he was going to sleep."

"Oh okay."

We went back to the room and Felix got a call that he had to go.

I gave him a hug and kiss and he was off.

I layed down and tried to fall asleep.

I woke up to see Oscar looking down at me.

"Emily? Emily? Wake up."

"I'm up. I'm up. Whats wrong? Is Nick ok?"

"Yea he's fine. He just drifted off to sleep. " He motioned towards the dark figure on the chair.
