Chapter 39

Skye and Mason where still doing well in their carriers. Mason was 29 and Skye 28, she had won 5 more titles since 2022 and was about to win her 6th.

Lewis retired in 2024, so Skye was given the seat. She was proud to continue the Hamilton legacy at Mercedes and was proud of what she was achieving.

Mason was still at Chelsea with Declan, Kai, Ben and Conor Gallagher. They had won the UCL again with Chelsea in 2023 and 2024, Mason was overjoyed to have his girlfriend and kids there to watch the team he was leading as captain win the competition.

England had won the 2022 World Cup after beating Germany on penalties. England fans had invaded the pitch to celebrate their country winning the cup they last one in 1966. Saka scored the winning penalty, the whole country was joyous that he scored and the mistake at the EUROS was all but forgotten.

Now, Skye was in her Formula One car on the last lap of the 2028 season. She had won the Championship a few races ago, nearly 100 points in front of her old teammate Lando Norris.

She laughed crossing the checkered flag as her team celebrated their third win in a row. She now had 6 championships under her belt at only 28 years old.

"Get in there, Skye!" Emilia's smile penetrated her voice, the cheers of the Mercedes crew flooding the radio.

She grinned "Brilliant car and a brilliant crew equals an incredible year! Thanks everyone!" She waved at people in the stands as she went round the track once more to cool the car down.

After celebrating with the team and being congratulated by Mason and her family and friends, Skye was stood on the podium with Lando and Max, she had just received the trophy and was going to leave the podium - since there was no champagne for some reason - when a voice came through the speakers.

"If I could get everyone's attention please." The world champion furrowed her brows as she walked Mason walk into the podium with a microphone.

"Um for anyone who doesn't know me, I'm Mason Mount, Skye's boyfriend." He introduced himself to the crowd as he walked further onto the podium platform so more people could see him.

Skye glanced at Lando and Max who smirked as they left the podium, leaving Skye and Mason up there alone as he looked at her talking through the microphone.

"I've had the pleasure of dating Skye for the past 6 years." He looked at her with love and nerves in his eyes, Skye missed the latter emotion as she smiled softly at him, confusing radiating from her as her brows furrowed down.

"We've had our ups and downs, the stupid break ups that lasted longer then they should have. We've shared laughs, tears and so many more emotions but we always laugh at the end he of the day. You've been an incredible mother to our kids, juggling two toddlers as well as a full time job that includes travelling all over the world is so hard but you manage it so well. You make me so proud every day, watching you with the kids is the best thing in the world." Mason held out his hand for her to come over. Skye - who had tears in her eyes - walked over and held his hand looking into his eyes.

He pulled a small black velvet box from his pocket making Skye gasp and cover her mouth as Mason went down to one knee "A few weeks ago I asked your dad for his blessing to marry you and he granted it. So here I am, down on one knee, asking the love of my life to do me the greatest honour by accepting my hand in marriage." Everyone watching was screaming as they watched the proposal take place.

Skye nodded rapidly "Yes, yes... A million times yes." She choked out, immediately wrapping her arms around Mason's neck as he stood up and kissing him on the lips.

"You want the ring?" Mason asked quietly after they pulled away to breath. Skye laughed nodding, she had completely forgotten about the ring.

Mason took it out of the box and slid it onto her finger "It's beautiful." Skye breathed as she looked at it. It was a small silver ring covered diamonds with a large diamond in the middle.
