If I Can't Love Him

Suddenly a shadow falls over Paul, and he lets out a gasp. It belonged to Emilia. She jumps back into the room and slams the jar back on the rose. She then turns her attention to Paul.

"Why did you come here?" Asked Emilia. "I-I'm sorry." Said Paul as he backed away in fear. "I warned you never to come here!" Emilia said growing angrier. "I didn't mean any harm!" Paul said. "Do you realize what you could've done?!?!" Asked Emilia in the angriest tone. She smashes a chair to the floor. "Please stop!" Cried Paul. "Get out!!! GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!" Emilia screamed. Filled with so much fear, Paul immediately flees from the West Wing.

Although she was angry, Emilia suddenly felt a moment of regret, knowing that she just ruined her chance for her and Paul to fall in love with each other after scaring him away.

Emilia sadly sings to herself, expressing her pain.

And in my twisted face
There's not the slightest trace
Of anything that even hints of kindness

And from my tortured shape
No comfort, no escape
I see, but deep within is utter blindness

Hopeless
As my dream dies

Love a lost illusion

Helpless
Unforgiven
Cold and driven
To this sad conclusion

No beauty could move me
No goodness improve me
No power on earth, if I can't love him

No passion could reach me
No lesson could teach me
How I could have loved him
And make him love me too
If I can't love him, then who?

Long ago I should have seen
All the things I could have been
Careless and unthinking, I moved onward

No pain could be deeper
No life could be cheaper
No point anymore, if I can't love him

No spirit could win me
No hope left within me
Hope I could have loved him
And that he'd set me free

But it's not to be
If I can't love him
Let the world be done with me

Knowing that Paul is her last chance at finding love, and after losing him forever, Emilia starts to cry. Without Paul, who else could love her?
