a year had passed since that encounter. I had sunk into a depression but managed to continue fighting witches. There were downsides to the wish that I had made.
The biggest problem was Sho's friends. He kept bad company and the two of them clearly hated me. The boys would slut shame me behind his back and I could never prove it. In fact, it felt like I had been trapped in purgatory. It all came to a head when Kyubey came to visit me one day.
It was on a day I felt particularly downcast. That's when I saw Kyubey sneak through my window. Kyubey had the same expression that he always wore, one I could never read.
"Itsumi, you haven't been fighting witches as you promised," Kyubey said.
"I've been busy," I explained.
"With what?" he asked.
"Oh you know, stuff," I groaned.
"If you won't do your job, then I'll replace you," Kyubey giggled.
"Fine, replace me," I huffed.
At this point, I'd had enough. Kyubey wanted me to work until a witch killed me. I wouldn't allow that even if he reversed my wish. I was through with being a magical girl.
"Very well but you'll have to train your replacement," he insisted.
"Okay," I said.
