(Sophie)

Sophie Foster was relaxing for the first time since she'd been to the Lost Cities. With all the stress about the war, Team Valiant, Foxfire, and who knows what else, she was on the verge of a mental breakdown every day. So here she was, sitting peacefully under the panakes tree, the blossoms stirring around her, the soft lyrics of a love song playing from her iPod swirling in her mind. She watched as Winn and Luna played, her hands fiddling with the fragile wildflowers growing around the trunk, weaving them into a delicate and colorful flower crown. She was so caught up in the extremely rare quiet moment that she almost didn't notice Keefe sit down next to her.

"Oh, hey Keefe. I thought I told Forkle I was taking a day off today. What's wrong now?"

"Oh, nothing's wrong. I just wanted to hang out with you," He shrugged, "I can leave if you want,"

Sophie grabbed his arm before he could leave, the soft contact sending tiny bolts of electricity up her fingers, "No. Sorry. Please stay. Usually, you're here with  some sort of news or info from the Black Swan,"

He sat back, a small smile forming on his face, "Yeah, I should really stop doing that,"  His gaze focused on the flowers in her hand, "Whatcha making?"

"Oh, just a flower crown. They were my favorite when I was little. In fact, I think this one's done!" She connected the ends and placed the crown on Keefe's head.

"I look great, don't I Foster?" He smirked and tossed his hair like a model. Sophie tried to ignore the tiny butterfly fluttering around in her stomach when he did.

"Whatever," She shook her head and looked down, trying to hide the tiny grin that had formed on her lips.

Keefe stared at her for a few moments causing two more butterflies to appear in her stomach. "I'll make you one," He decided, picking a few flowers, and his paint-stained fingers began to weave the vibrant blossoms together.

Sophie watched him while he worked, the air silent except for the occasional noise from the pastures. The baby alicorns had stopped playing and Luna was now resting in the lush green grass near Sophie's feet. Sophie's mind slowly began to wander, and as it always did whether she liked it or not, it ended up at Keefe. Usually, she was able to redirect her train of thought to a safer topic, but today it seemed as if her heart was the conductor, and her brain nothing but a passenger.

She really couldn't help but notice that while his eyes may have been icy in color, they were always warm and soft when he saw her. How his hair was always styled to perfection, and beautifully golden, especially in the bright sunlight. She found herself falling for him, like ketchup coming out of a bottle, slowly and then all at once. Like she had jumped off a cliff but forgot how to teleport. And without her permission, she began to imagine what it would be like if they dated. How it would feel for him to hold her close. For them to cuddle up next to a fire on a cold day. What would happen if she were to rest her head on his shoulder right now? Would he smile and wrap an arm around her? Or would he push her off? Or would he have no reaction, as if it were the most casual thing in the world?

"Woah, Foster. Those are some intense emotions. What are you thinking about?" Keefe asks, pulling Sophie out of the imaginary world she had constructed.

You. You and me. Us. Together. Her mind screamed

"Nothing," Sophie mumbled.

Keefe frowned, her answer clear didn't match up with the emotions radiating off her. He held up the now completed crown. "I finished it," He shrugged, a boyish grin on his face. Sophie bowed her head so he could place it on her  "I crown thee, Lady Fos-Boss of the Lost Cities!"

Sophie laughed, looking up at the ridiculous boy in front of her. She expected to see a smirk on his face and a teasing glint in those ice-blue eyes that she loved so much. But instead, he looked at her in awe. As if she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen, which of course made Sophie blush.

"What?" She asked, hiding behind her hair.

"Oh nothing, it's just-" He paused, and for a second, his lips formed a different word than what eventually came out, "You always duck away when you smile, y'know." Keefe reached over and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, leaving his hand resting on her cheek. And Sophie tried so hard to ignore the spark that surged down her spine when he did.

They studied each other for a few seconds in silence.

Keefe's cheeks turned pink and his eyes searched her when he asked "Would it be ok if I kissed you?"

At that moment a thousand, no, a million thoughts surged through Sophie's mind most of them being some version of absolutely. She opened her mouth. And then closed it. And then opened it again. trying to get a word of some sort out. But she couldn't, and Keefe was starting to look more and more unsure, so she went with something that would get the message through loud and clear. A nod.

Keefe looked just as shocked as she felt at first, but his expression softened into something she couldn't quite identify. He placed his other hand on her waist, and only waited a second before pressing his lips to hers. And in that instant, nothing else in the world mattered, because Sophie felt like she had just clicked into place as if the two of them were meant to be and all of the events in her life had only happened for this moment. She ran her fingers through his hair, probably ruining it-- not that she cared. For the first time ever, Sophie's brain was completely empty. She couldn't think, only let her emotions overpower her mind and hope Keefe could interpret them better than she could.

The two of them broke apart after a minute, sitting in each other's arms, foreheads pressed together.

"Hey, Foster?" Keefe whispered

"Yeah?"

"I think I might love you,"

Sophie chuckled, "I figured that much,"
