By mid-week, the separation was somehow easier because Cha Mi-jo and Hoon knew that Dae-sik will be home in just two days. However, it also meant that they already had 2 nights without their favorite agent.

"I miss Appa," Hoon whined over dinner. "Eomma, do you think he's okay?"

"I hope so," Cha Mi-jo replied honestly. "He's been sending us messages and he promised to call when he can."

"I'm trying to be strong but I miss him so much, Eomma," Hoon confessed.

"I'm proud of you, Hoonie," Cha Mi-jo said. "A few more days and Appa's home."

As they resumed their meal, the phone rang and both Mi-jo and Hoon ran to it, hoping against hope that it was the call they both wanted and needed.

Luckily, it was. Dae-sik's name appeared on the screen.

"Appa!" Hoon yelled as soon as they picked up the video call. "What happened to your face?!"

Cha Mi-jo was equally horrified when they saw the large bruise on Dae-sik's cheek. "Dae-sik! What's that?! That's an awfully huge bruise."

Dae-sik cringed. "There was an accident and I slipped on the ropes but I'm fine," he told them. "I just wanted to tell you now so that you won't be surprised when I come home."

"You slipped? Did you hurt anything else?" Mi-jo pressed. Dae-sik didn't answer immediately but Mi-jo warned him not to lie. "Our son is listening in so please do not lie to us."

"Yes, Appa. A lie is not nice," Hoon told him.

Dae-sik hesitated but, seeing the stern expressions on their faces, finally replied, "I'm bruised all over actually but thankfully nothing is broken, so please don't worry." That "our" son to refer to Hoon always got to him.

Another face entered the frame from his side. "Hi Dr. Cha! This is Hwang Jin Tae."

"Hello Agent Hwang," Mi-jo greeted. "This is my son, Hoon."

After greeting the boy, Hwang Jin Tae continued, "Don't worry about Park Dae-sik. He'll be home in one piece. There are no serious injuries. He's just going to look even uglier than usual."

"YAH!" Dae-sik protested.

Cha Mi-jo chuckled for the first time since seeing Dae-sik's bruised face. "I'm counting on that, Agent Hwang. Hoon and I have been worried sick and seeing this hasn't helped us become less anxious."

"Agent Hwang?" Hoon spoke up timidly. "Thanks for taking care of my Appa."

Dae-sik's face came in again. "We have to go. The nurses are telling me to rest," he said. "I'll see you in a couple of days, okay?"
