"Yes, I know, I know! I'm on my way." You told the other person on the line, that person being Lumine. Your best friend who's been saving your ass for so long that you couldn't even count how many times it had been.

You laugh before getting on the bus. "I won't be late. I told you I woke up earlier,"

[You say that but then still come in tardy. How many side quests are you doing, Y/N?]

"I just needed my early morning coffee, what's so wrong with that?" You sit down on one of the available seats and put your bag on your lap.

[Fine, I better see you in the next twenty minutes or I won't be giving you free McDonalds anymore.]

"Do not bring McDonalds into this!" You giggle before saying your goodbyes just so you could keep quiet and stop annoying the people around you.

You silently just looked at your feet while waiting to arrive at your destination. Tapping your feet to the music in your head and often looking out the window.

It was a beautiful morning, you could see the sun rising in between the tall buildings and you could tell that it would be a clear sunny day considering there were no clouds.

You return your attention to your shoes and realize the person in front of you had nice footwear. Black, thick-soled boots that had a teal dragon scale lining at the back. Either it was custom made or it was bought somewhere, it looked pretty cool. You couldn't help but admire the shoes.

You started to drift your attention to who wore them and you just couldn't help but stare for a moment. You couldn't see much of his features due to the mask he wore but you could tell he was attractive.

With the way his hair is swept back in front of his ear and the teal undertone that matched his boots. Golden yellow eyes and... is that red eyeliner? A man who knows how to wear eyeliner? Plus points for that!

"Excuse me, you've been staring at me for a while. Is there something on my face?" He suddenly spoke and it knocked you out of your trance.

You shook your head a little to shake away the zoning out and replied. "Sorry, I was spacing out. May I ask you something?"

Xiao wanted to say no, in all honesty. He was not one for communicating with other people. He shrugs his shoulders and opts you to ask anyway.

"Are your shoes custom made?" You pointed down. He looks down at them and checks them out before looking back at you, adjusting his mask, and then nodding.

"I... I made them." He mumbles quietly. Luckily, you heard it.

He's pretty proud of these shoes. It was one of the first times he's ever done something like this and it turned out well, he was happy. Though he never really got the chance to flaunt it to anyone considering he doesn't exactly have... a lot of friends.

"That's amazing! They look so cool. Y'know what would be a stylish plot twist?" You questioned with an exciting tone, hands splayed out in front of you and everything. "If they glowed in the dark!"

Xiao finds himself smiling under the mask, just a little. The smile makes him pull his mask up as he silently agrees with your sentiment while looking away, bashful. "Might consider."

You cheered with a giggle and pulled out your phone then, giving it to him. He looks at it in confusion as he reads your phone number to himself. What's this for? He wondered.

"I'm gonna need to see that glow-in-the-dark results so- if it's okay?" You ask politely, almost retracting your hand 'cause you felt too pushy.

You couldn't tell but he looked at you with a soft stare. It was one of the first interactions with someone where he didn't feel awkward. A lot of people looked up to him but they were all so intimidated by him that they could only admire him from afar.

Yet here you were, a stranger on the bus, asking about his shoes and offering to be friends. It was an unfamiliar interaction to him but one that was welcomed.

His silence made you worry and you shift a bit in your seat. "If you don't want to, that's okay. Sorry about—"

"Not at all, please, I'd enjoy telling you about it." He interrupts you before you could even retreat your hand. He grabs your phone and pulls out his own, looking back and forth from yours and his as he's typing out your phone number.

After a few more seconds, he handed it back. Just in time, the train announces it's destination and that was your stop. "Oh, this is my stop."

"Okay. Goodbye." He gives you a small wave goodbye and you, too, wave in return.

As soon as you got off the bus, you texted Lumine with a wide smile, a cheery mood, and a skip in your walk.

y/n : i think i have a crush

lumine : u met someone handsome @ the bus? ure gonna be late if u dont get here rn and tell me

y/n : HAHA OKAY OKAY

And as you're listening to your music while speed walking your way to your school, a notification ring interrupts the music and you dug for your phone to see what it was.

It was a random number that had a message saying 'can you pick which shoes i should paint glow in the dark paint on this afternoon?'.

You smiled at it. He decided to make the first move and it had only been a few minutes after you had gotten off the bus. You're not saying anything but it did kind of feed your ego. Just a little, that's all! It was like a sign that he liked you and couldn't wait to get to know you.

y/n : sure, would love to see which shoes would look cool w it
