A/N: Sukuna and Inari's conversation in this scene is happening over the phone, with Inari using headphones. So yes, she's dealing with him directly in her ears—good luck to her.
A Month Later~~~
Inari's POV
Coming back from the demon world, I was practically vibrating with excitement. New techniques, refined curse energy control-I was ready to flex.
Barely a step into the human realm, my phone buzzed. Itadori's name flashed on the screen.
"What's up, Yuuji?" I answered casually.
"It's not me. Sukuna won't stop pestering me. Here, talk to him," he groaned. A second later, a much more obnoxious voice took over.
"Oi, you brat! Are you back?!" Sukuna's voice boomed loud, almost making me drop my phone. I snickered, slipping in my wireless headphones to save my eardrums. "Yeah, just got back."
"Come on and give me your blood! I want your blood!! Did you get stronger?! Can you create your Domain now?! What did you learn?!"
"Sukuna, for the love of-SHUT UP!! I'm trying to watch a movie here!!" Itadori's exasperated voice cut in.
I couldn't help but laugh. These two were truly the worst roommates in existence.
"Anyway, head to the mountains," Sukuna ordered, now serious. "Find the tallest peak."
"Why?" I asked, suspicious.
"Just trust me. You'll witness something incredible. Maybe even learn something."
"No. Not going."
An Eternity Later~~~
"Fuck."
I gave in. Because of course I did. And now, here I was, in the mountains, regretting my life choices. Leaning behind a tree, I sighed. "Sukuna, how much longer do I have to wait?"
"Quiet. He's here," he snapped.
I perked up. A car pulled into view. My eyes narrowed as Gojo stepped out.
My instincts kicked in. I ducked behind the tree, peeking like some low-budget spy.
"Go on ahead," Gojo told the driver.
"Eh?! You're not going to smack me if I do?" Ijichi's nervous voice whined.
"Just who do you think I am?" Gojo retorted.
I bit back a laugh. This poor man lived in constant fear. Just as the car drove off, he turned toward my side, and I quickly ducked out of sight.
"Inari, come out. I can sense your cursed energy," Gojo called out, sounding way too amused.
"Ha ha... busted," I muttered. Slinking out from my hiding spot, I get down the cliff and faced him with a sheepish grin.
"Well, well, look who's back," Gojo mused, reaching out. His fingers tangled into my hair as he ruffled it. "When did you return?"
I giggled, warmth spreading through me. "Got back about an hour ago."
Gojo's fingers suddenly stopped. He lifted a strand of my hair between his fingers, studying it.
"Damn. It really is red," he murmured.
I blinked. Oh. Right. My hair had turned red. My eyes too, probably.
As his fingers brushed lower, he hit a small tangle. The moment he touched it, my hair darkened, shifting back to black before our eyes.
Gojo froze.
