Inari's POV

I had Sukuna heal my marks since, apparently, I still couldn't heal my own wounds. (A tragic flaw, really. Shakespeare would weep.)

Anyway, I was on my way to meet my friends, brimming with excitement.

"Aahhh, I'm so excited!" I cheered, for someone who had just consumed three energy drinks and absolutely zero common sense.

As I approached, I spotted Fushiguro and Kugisaki talking to two unfamiliar individuals.

Well, unfamiliar to me—because apparently, my social awareness had a loading speed worse than dial-up internet. From a distance, I could hear them chatting.

"What are you doing here, Zenin-senpai?" Fushiguro asked, eyeing one of the newcomers.

Zenin? Is it that brat.

Kugisaki squinted. "Oh, she's one too? They have a similar vibe. Sisters?"

"Twins," Fushiguro clarified.

"Don't call me that, Fushiguro-kun. It puts me on the same level as Maki. Call me Mai." The girl said this like she was asking him to refer to her as Supreme Goddess of the Universe.

Then she winked at him. (Barf.)

"So these are the pinch hitters for Okkotsu and the fourth-years?" the other stranger piped up. Ah, a condescending remark. My favorite.

"We tagged along with the principal because we were worried about you. Your classmate died, right? Must've been rough. Or maybe it wasn't?" Mai Zenin continued in disdain.

"Wow."

She'd really blossomed into a five-star, full-course, Michelin-certified jerk.

"What are you getting at?" Fushiguro asked irritated.

"It's okay. Some things are hard to put into words, so I'll do it for you," Mai purred, smiling smugly. "'Vessel' makes it sound nice, but he was just a half-cursed monster."

Excuse me??

"Having such a vile facade of a human beside you, brazenly calling himself a jujutsu sorcerer, must have been revolting, right? Aren't you relieved now that he's dead?"

Oh. Oh, hell no.

I know he's not dead, but I was about to personally ensure that she was.

"Damn. That just rubbed me the wrong way."

With no hesitation, I strode up to her, grabbed a fistful of her hair, and yanked.

"Argh!! Who—?!" Mai squawked, and I locked eyes with her. The temperature around us plummeted.

"Inari..." Mai gritted her teeth, trying to glare at me. "Well, well, look who decided to join the party!" I cooed, my voice sugary sweet.

"Let me go!" she snapped, gripping my wrist.

Oh, did I forget to mention? We knew each other from childhood. (Family reunions were wild.)

"Oh? You had a lot to say about my boyfriend just now. Go on, be brave—say it again. I dare you." I encouraged, tightening my hold just a little.

"Ugh!" Her pupils dilated in panic."Let me go!!" she shrieked, her nails digging into my skin, and honestly, that only encouraged me.

I smiled wider.

"The next time Yuuji's name comes out of your mouth is the day you die," I whispered low, before finally shoving her away.

She stumbled back, gasping for breath, eyes wide with shock.
