February 23rd, Year 842, Millenium 41st. I was sitting in my chambers inside the Obsidian Phoenix, sharpening my sword and preparing myself for the meeting with chapter master Sobotor.
- Captain, your presence it's required on the bridge.
Said the servitor as it entered my room.
I put on my MkVIII Artificer armor, with my entire left arm being silver and my pauldron displaying the logo of the deathwatch. With Plasma gun on fold and sword on sheath I walk to the main bridge of the ship, I remember while on my way to the bridge watching the scouts training with the sword, reminded me of my days on the deathwatch with master Altriok, fighting xenos at his side and along with my brothers of the watch, but it was not meant for me to stay there, just like how the wind never stays on one place, the moment I arrived to the room, showing the deep and dark void of space in front of me through the windshield with the dying stars trying to fill it with their light, and the planet of Ruskaria itself. I look down to see Chapter Master Maximus "The Reaper" Sobotor, Commissar Carlo Entarus of the 125th regiment of the Brimlock Dragoons representing Colonel Alexander Varl, Ship mistress Angela Cyderian and Chapter Master of the Hammers of Truth Lance Equilux with his champion, 1st company captain and second of the chapter, Caesar Castellan .
- Greetings Enzor.
- Captain Cralius.
- My Lord.
- Captain.
- Brother.
All of them greeted me one by one, either by words or just a nod of their head.
- With everyone here, this meeting shall begin, Commissar.
- Thank you Lord Sobotor, as you may know, my forces have requested reinforcements at the planet of Ruskaria, a gigantic ork fleet is approaching rapidly. Said the Commissar.
- These xenos seem to have had their eyes on the planet a long time ago; we assume they're planning on conquering it and converting it into one of their slave camps. Said Captain Castellan.
-I chose to assist you and your men into fighting these xenos. Said Sobotor. - My fleet shall hold the planet in case of an external force attack.
- Who will be in charge of leading the fleet?. Equilux Asked.
- Due to his experience and expertise, Chapter Master Sobotor shall lead the defense fleet. Said the Commissar. - The durability of the city before it crumbles down is estimated to be 11 days at best.
- What about the worst? Asked the champion
- 6 days at worse.
- We are to stay in orbit.
- We're the most qualified to lead the Astartes forces in an orbital battle. Said Sobotor
I was wrong, I will not die on this planet.
- Chapter Master, we can wipe our enemy before they set foot on the surface.
- I have already discussed this with the rest of the Captains, my Brother, we must leave someone in charge of the surface's defense if the fleet falls, and will be stationed in the city the city marled as the first target of the orks. Said Sobotor.
- That is none of our concern my liege. I said.
- And yet a commander must remain in charge of the surface defenses.
- I shall take said task with honor and pride.
- Then it has been decided, your second in command of the defenses shall be captain of the 3rd company Thormund Hernandus of the Hammer of truth. Said Master Equilux.
- I shall swing my sword and shove it through the enemy's heart and vanish their blasphemous existence to the void covered in holy fire by my gun. And if the warboss is present when I fight, I shall bring his head on a silver plate.
- Very well Cralius.
I bow to Sobotor and take my leave off the room.
3 hours have passed, and I'm rallying my company as I speak with the closest of my brothers, and second in command of the 5th company, Lieutenant David Muriel.
- So we get to see some action on this world. Said my brother as he loaded his bolter.
- We are to protect the people on this planet and fighting xenos that threaten it's territory.
- Why do we need to be stationed on the planet when we can just barrage the beasts with artille-
I unleash my gun and point it at his head, full of rage, but I must admit, he was right, I was confused, my judgment was being unguided, and my only thought was my death. After a few seconds of silence and staring at each other, I retrieve the gun out of my brother's face and put it back on its holster and turn myself around.
- The 3rd Company of the Hammers of Truth shall aid us in protecting this planet from the xenos. I shall have a word with their captain once we arrive at the location.
- What about our location, where are we to be stationed on this death world? David asked.
- We are to stay and protect, watching from the city of Theleria, Ruskaria's main shipping port city.
- And that's the reason why I say at the beginning that we are cursed by this mission, I've heard this planet is extremely popilated by abhumans, some even say there are xenos infiltrated.
- That is none of our concern, as long as they serve their purpose and do our whim.
- Before I could say anything else, my Vox received a message from one of my sergeants.
- My lord, your forces are awaiting for you and the Lieutenant.
We're on our way. As I replied to the sergeant putting my helm on, mascaring my face from the rest of my brothers while we walked to the hangar.
