we can make it if we try

A week later, Kioshi was no longer forcing herself awake a 3am or drinking coffee and energy drinks all day long.

She had to admit she felt better. She looked over to the left where Techno, who was laying beside her in the grass, was reading a book. She smiled at the boy, thinking of how grateful she was for him.

Upon feeling her gaze Techno turned to meet her eyes. He gave her a soft smile upon seeing her own.

"Hallo"

Kioshi gave him a small wave. She gestured towards the book and Techno got the hint.

"I'm reading 'The Art of War'"

Kioshi gave a twirl of her finger, a sign Techno knew to be "always"

"I don't always read this, I read other books too."

Kioshi just gave a little laugh and moved closer to lay by him, reading the book along with him. After a bit Techno put the book away and they laid together, in the exact same position with their feet crossed and hands resting on their stomachs.

The world was crazy, sometimes cruel, sometimes kind, sometimes chaotic, yet here, in this little circle outlined by trees, laying beside a pond, was a boy and a girl, in their own world.

Kioshi slowly removed her left hand and grabbed Techno's right hand, carefully intertwining her fingers with his.

Her heartbeat was pounding in her ears and spread up from her neck to her face and ears, her eyes looking towards the sky but her brain focused on the warmth his touch brought to her.

Techno gently rubbed his thumb over her knuckles, ignoring his own face heating up. Techno seemed to forget how to manually breathe as he focused purely on their interlocked hands, wishing for the feeling to never end.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and Techno frowned when Kioshi's hand left his, as she hoisted herself up and reminded Techno they had a lore stream to do.

Techno wanted to say to forget about the lore, that they should stay their in their own world and hold hands, maybe dance and just be in each other's presence because he liked being around her, and he liked her.

But the words must've gotten caught in his throat because they never did come out, and instead they walked out of the circle, out of their world, and into everyone else's, where important words go unsaid.

"You're a really good listener Kioshi" George said smiling to the girl who was next to him.

I like listening to you George

"I'm glad, I don't feel like many people do." George said sadly and Kioshi put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

Technoblade scoffed.

"Y'know Technoblade i'm not even sure why you always insist on joining us you should know i'm not gonna kill her by now"

"And how exactly do I know that? We're on opposite sides here George, and Kioshi is with us"

"I've told you already im politically neutral"

"but you're friends with Dream."

"That doesn't mean anything"

"That means everything. And how do you think your little boyfriend Dream is gonna feel about you and Kioshi spending all your time here flirting?"

"he's not my boyfriend"

"that doesn't answer my question"

"he won't find out, okay?"

"so you don't deny the flirting?"

"Oh my god Techno that can't really be what you're caught up on"

Can you guys please stop arguing?

Both the boys huffed and turned away from each other. This was gonna be a long day.
