It was the following day. Dazai had told me that they caught the man tiger. He said it was quite a shock to see such a dramatic teenager - I have been told this was his first impression of the boy - morphed into a magnificent tiger. He nearly awed in beauty, saying that the moonlight played a part in it as well. He figured that the Agency would need him, so he decided to recruit him as a new member.

Ranpo followed next. However, rather than telling me what happened, he told me about how everyone arrived only to see Dazai handling the boy without them. I was told that Yosano was not pleased upon arrival. She was hoping there could be injured men when she set her foot within the area. Miyazawa was tasked to carry him to the dorm.

All of these, of course, we're told in messages.

I had been wondering why they intend to keep me updated when I had no longer worked under the company. I had once asked Ranpo about it, but he only replied by saying that sooner or later, I will return to them according to my own will. And I had kept thinking about it ever since. It was as if he purposely nailed it onto my brain and unless I got myself a claw hammer to pull it out, this conversation between us will keep me alive in the middle of the night. Was it a mistake to resign? No. Getting involved with them would only give me a headache. Now that the protagonist is under their wing, the story can flow on its own course without me tangling them. That is one of the things I can do to erase my existence in this fictional world.

And yet here I am.

"Oda Sakuya-san, right?" My ears have heard my name, so I turned around to greet and give a bow to one of the members of the Detective Agency. I was not familiar with their appearance. They must be recruited after I left. "They will be here in a while. Please, make yourself comfortable. Thank you for your patience." They left the room as soon as they stated that. The air has gone dead.

Rather than being a client, the sensation of me being a worker here still burns inside my chest. A feeling that I subconsciously yearn for, however, I had no choice but to free myself away from the passion that keeps me safe just so I could live the life that grants me the truth.

"Good morning. My name is Kunikida Doppo, and these are," The blonde had immediately stopped in his tracks as soon as our eyes met. He was clearly taken by surprise.

Dazai playfully peeked beyond Kunikida's shoulders despite being taller. He gasped dramatically; eyes glimmered in such happiness as if he was truly pleased to see me here. "Sakuya-san? Had your mind changed and now you're ready to be a member of our team?"

I smiled to return his goofy mood and whipped a sass in my words, "Only if you start working productively, Dazai-san."

"It was surely a pleasant opportunity to have you here, Sakuya-san. What brings you here?" Kunikida still has that formality with me.
