"Huh? Dazai-san's missing?" I reiterate the words that I heard from Yosano. I watched her expression and remained apathetic to the news she had relayed to me. There were a few shrugs before she replied that it was the boy, Nakajima Atsushi, who made a fuss about it early in the morning.

"He said he's not picking his phone. He had himself check his apartment and there were no signs of recent occupation." Yosano placed her chin above her right hand palm, expressing some disinterest that I have assumed the majority of the members (especially Kunikida) shared. They must have simply speculated that it was one of the man's peculiar antics. "It's not like he never tried to ditch work anyways."

"Even so," I find myself concerned. "Shouldn't the agency at least find him? He could be detained somewhere else."

The doctor took a brief moment to give me a stare to which I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. I wondered why she was giving me that look. Almost as if she's evaluating the speculation I have offered. Yosano sighed afterwards. "Ah, sorry. It's just that someone made the same remarks like you did. I forgot you were partnered for years."

Before I even react she intentionally cuts me off, playfully smirking before making a joke that is not far off from reality. Something that both parties (dare I say even their other members) agreed on. "But if it's the police station, then there's no surprise there."

"Ah, Yosano-san. Uhm." We both turned our attention to Atsushi-kun who was awkwardly smiling at the doctor. He have this odd look on his face that strikes me funny but I did not dare to let out a laugh. It was an inappropriate time to do so. Behind his petite structure, stands tall Kunikida, whose glasses gleamed in such disappointment and frustration. "Could we, uhm, take her out to eat."

Ah, that's why Kunikida had his face burning in disagreement.

"We promise – I mean, I promise, that it won't take long!" The boy reconstructed his sentence as soon as he saw Kunikida side-eyeing him on the we part. "It will also help us since she promised she'll tell everything she can after eating."

The naivety of Atsushi frustrates Kunikida even more. He is a man of ideals. Someone like Izumi Kyouka, who is responsible for killing innocent lives, believes they should be behind bars immediately. It's not like it's hard to understand why. But I personally find it rather inflexible. The world does not function in black and white alone. There were too many factors to be considered. Sometimes, there are what we call the 'gray areas' in which some ideals have trouble on having the ability to see them as it is as they just simply like to pick and decide which pieces are black and white.

Someone who cannot control their ability is bound for abuse. It was the truth for those who are unfortunate. Ability users are, after all, must live under the rule of the hunt or be hunted. It's not something that necessarily brings happiness. But still, there is a part of me that wants to believe in hope.
