Part 7 - A Hundred Years in the Future

CUT TO:

INT. McFLY HOME - LIVING ROOM

Camera faces Emmett, who is staring in rapt attention at the TV, playing the tape from 'BACK TO THE FUTURE'. Halli enters and sits by Emmett.  

HALLI

I put a bandaid on Verne's head. He didn't hit it very hard--there's no swelling.

Emmett doesn't respond. Instead, he lifts the remote, rewinds, and plays again.

(ON TV) A DeLorean hurtles toward the camera, then suddenly disappears, leaving twin paths of fire in its wake. In the background, DOC BROWN cheers.

Emmett shakes his head.

EMMETT
How long have you known this? When did you plan on telling me?

HALLI

This was 30 years ago. I learned when I was 12, and Eric learned when he was 12--it's a big secret, and Mom and Dad need to be able to trust us to keep it.

EMMETT

(staring at screen)

Where did they go?

HALLI

Everywhere. Dad accidentally caused our grandparents not to meet in 1955, but in the end, he got them back together and changed their lives for the better.

EMMETT

Did they ever realize who he was?

HALLI

(shakes her head)

Not to my knowledge. He told them his name was Calvin Kline, and they didn't have any pictures of him. The next day, Dad had to go to 2015 to stop Eric and I from making a big mistake--

EMMETT

2015? But that's this year!

HALLI

Actually, it's tomorrow. I guess we need to try and get in as much trouble as possible, if you know what I mean.

EMMETT

Yeah, you're already doing that.

HALLI

Shut up. After he saved us, he went back to 1985 again, just to find out that Griff's grandpa had stolen the time machine and turned Hill Valley into a war zone--
