(Well, it's been a while huh. Sorry for not uploading the past two weeks. I've been on a road trip and didn't bring my laptop with me so i couldn't upload. Everything should be back to normal now. Again, sorry for no uploads and enjoy the chapter.)
(Arthur Leywin POV)
I made my way down to the arena and faced George. I planned on finishing this quick so we could get out adventuring card and be on our way. When I stood in-front of him, I saw the kid named Lucas walk over to Amber.
'What the fuck is that brat doing,' I thought with a livid expression. I turned my attention towards George and glared at him, waiting for him to begin. He flinched under my gaze and stood there like a statue.
"Tch! Well... Are we going to begin?" The irritation in my voice was evident. I wanted to finish this quick so I could move that brat off Amber.
"R-right. Begin!" he announced while lunging at me. The thrust was aimed directly at my head, most likely intended to scare me.
Instead of dodging back or ducking, I faced the incoming tip of the sword and took a step forward, willing mana into my legs. Tilting my head just enough for the flat of the blade to graze harmlessly past my mask, I brought my sword up in one, swift motion.
George's sharp eyes widened by my counter as he desperately retracted in hopes to make it in time to block my swing, but the tip of my sword was already pressed against the man's throat. The examiner immediately stopped, afraid that any sudden movement and my blade might actually embed itself into his neck, regardless of mana reinforcement.
I was about to pull my blade away and go back to deal with Lucas, but a sudden voice called out.
"Enough! Stand down, George. I'll be the one to test this particular examinee." What the hell! Just let me do this first, then I can fight you.
Kaspian walked into the arena, and I immediately sent an annoyed glare his way and let out some bloodlust. He flinched for a moment, before regaining his composure and walked over to George.
"S-Sir? You will be personally examining this participant?" George backed away from my blade as casually as possible, but a bead of blood rolled down his neck. "I apologize if this sounds presumptuous, but is there really a need for an AA-Class to lower himself to test an examinee? I will be more than enough to assess this applicant!" he continued, quickly wiping the blood off with his hand.
Kaspian's gaze lowered to George's neck, silencing the examiner. The man, regardless of what he assumed was a simple blunder on his part, was visibly baffled by the fact that the head of this branch would be the one to test me.
"His sponsor has deep ties with me so I feel obligated to test him personally," he chuckled as his right hand reached towards a thin rapier on his waist. Waving away George, the two of us stood at the centre of the dirt arena.
"Let us begin."
As we were fighting, I had realised that I was still unaccustomed to fighting in this body. I had been so engrossed in this world's magic system, that I completely neglected the thing I was best at. It was frustrating that most of my attacks felt weird and wonky. And to add insult to injury, I would unintentionally look over at Amber's direction and take my focus away from the fight, which left me susceptible to Kaspian's attacks.
I was thinking on how to finish this quick when a loud noise and a sudden shout from Amber filled the arena.
*Slap* "Piss off! Can't you take a hint! I'M. NOT. INTERESTED." Me and Kaspian stopped and look back to see her standing in-front of Lucas, who was sitting with his ass on the floor with a red mark on his cheek. That mark disappeared as his skin turned red from rage.
