(Amber Helstea POV)

Waking up to strong, comforting arms around you feels so reassuring. Such is my current position. Arthur had come into my room last night as we went over our plans and hopes for Xyrus, eventually leaving us tired and sleepy, so I made him sleep on my bed as I cuddled next to him for warmth. Somehow, during the night, he had wrapped his arms around my back and waist and had pulled me in until my head was resting next to his chest. Not that I mind though in the slightest.

I placed my ear near his chest and listened to the calm rhythmic beats of his heart, which reassured me that life was still flowing through his veins. The heat flowing from his body drew me in closer till I rubbed my full body against him. His arm tightened around me, and I felt a warm palm caress my cheek. I cocked my head back and saw Arthur staring at me with a little smile on his handsome face. My heart skipped a beat as his love-filled gaze locked on mine. I felt relieved! It indicated that, even after all this time, my love for him had not changed. His fingers tickled my neck and I let out a feminine giggle. I reached out and pressed his hand firmly on my cheek as he continued to caress it with his thumb.

"Morning," he said softly as he gave me a little peck on the lips.

"Mhn, morning. How did you sleep?" I asked as I snuggled even closer.

"Great! Are you ready for today? Lots to do," he asked as he took his hand off and sat up straight. I also sat up and started pouting that he took his hand away before I was done, but he seemed oblivious to my inner turmoil.

"*Sigh* For you maybe, but the big stuff doesn't start for me until tomorrow. I guess I'll go see the Dicatheous set sail with the others. At least it'll keep me entertained for a bit." I don't officially start Xyrus until tomorrow. As the student council president, I have a different sort of first day. During the days leading up to today, I would go to Xyrus regularly where the Director herself would personally show me around. She told me what I should expect when I finally enrol there and what my duties would be. Ironically, I was expected to give a speech first thing tomorrow in front of the entire school, which included all the first year and older students. The only ones who knew that I was the president was Elijah, both mine and Arthur's families and the director. Apart from them, no one else knew. I wonder how they would react.

I had also signed up Arthur to be a part of the newly formed disciplinary committee, since it came with special perks that were only available for the student council members or the disciplinary committee members, and I know how much he hates doing paperwork and meeting, so I knew he wouldn't like being in the student council. Aren't I just the best wife?

"You better get there early then because soon it'll be crowded." With that, he left and went back to his room to get ready.

Both Arthur and Elijah were about to leave for Xyrus so the Leywins and I decided to see them off. Airies was excited to see Xyrus Academy during its first day while Sylvie just wanted to sleep in longer, so Airies was going to Xyrus with Arthur. As soon as Arthur was done saying his goodbyes to his family, he came to me and pulled me by the waist and gave me a hug. "Try not to get too bored without me."

"A difficult request, but I think I'll manage." I giggled and whilst I hung my arms over his shoulders and looked up at him. Going on tiptoes, I reached up and gave him a gentle kiss on his lips. "Wait for me dear." I whispered.

He brought his face to my ear and whispered back, "I always will." he kept the hug for another ten seconds before finally getting in the carriage and setting off for Xyrus. All of us started to head back and Aunt Alice started walking next to me.
