(Amber Helstea POV)
"Phoenix Ascension."
The fire mana around me shook and my whole body ignited as a warm sensation enveloped me. The surrounding vines from the Elderwood Guardians were reduced to ashes, unable to bear the extreme heat at point blank range. The air around me deformed and took on a wave-like form; something you would see in places of severe heat like deserts and the savannah. Further ahead, the prickly vines started to turn grey from the lack of moisture. Whether it was inside the vines or not, all the water evaporated all around me, leaving steam to rise and create a humid atmosphere.
"Mama, papa. What happened?" "Mum, dad. Are you ok?" Sylvie's and Airies's worried voice filled my thoughts. They wanted to come to our aid, but Arthur and I convinced them not to come, reassuring that we would be fine. Whilst they still worried and doubtful, they reluctantly accept not to come for us.
My whole appearance morphed as I went into the integrate phase of my Phoenix will, which I had inherited from Leona. My once-gleaming silver hair had transformed into a gorgeous vivid red that had gradually faded into a golden hue. My amber eyes had become a bright flaming blue, making them appear to be on fire. My entire body was covered in white flames, with little specks of azure and scarlet. The fire transfigured and produced wings in the shape of phoenixes from my back, providing me the capacity to soar uninhibited and free.
I could regulate how quickly I could fly by changing the colour of the fire that created my wings, with white being the quickest and blue and red following respectively after. Furthermore, I could alter the colour of my wings at will without having to stop and then change it, which would save me time in combat.
I began to climb, flapping my crimson wings, until I was eye level with the Elderwood Guardian. From the way the intense white fire shone and the tremendous heat radiating from my body, anyone looking up at me below would think that I was a miniature Neutron Star, waiting to consume everything in its path.
Once I finally got high enough to level with the S-Class beast, I saw a fearful look in its eyes. Its once boundless confidence was completely removed, only to be replaced with unequivocal, genuine horror. Letting out an ear-ripping scream from the depths of its soul, as if rejecting fate, it sent a slew of jagged vines at me. Unfortunately for the beast, the vines were reduced to ash before they could even get near to me.
I could see the ice calamity wrought by Arthur's spell from afar. The sheer power of the spell had engulfed the second Elderwood Guardian in ice, halting it in its tracks. I concentrated on the target ahead of me since I knew he had everything under control.
It had begun to retreat away from my all-consuming flames, which threatened to devour it alive. I began my assault, reasoning that it would be prudent to finish this before the backlash impacted me. I raised my right hand in the air and summoned many balls of white fire, all forming a circle around me. The balls of fire began to tremble, asking to be released and cause havoc among them. I lowered my hand, granting them their wish, and watched as they rocketed ahead quicker than the naked eye could track.
I got the inspiration for this spell when I was observing Arthur's and Kaspian's duel at the rank examination. More specifically, I was carefully examining his wind bullets and how he summoned them utilising air as a medium and attempted to replicate them. As a consequence, I created this new spell, which I dubbed 'Pyrotechnics.' It employed the same concept of summoning my spells by utilising air as a medium to manufacture my spells, but my version could call more spells at once, and they were much quicker and more devastating.
In a poor attempt to shield itself from the impending torrent of white fire, the now scared beast enveloped itself in thick, multi-layered vines. As the decorum of devastation flung themselves towards the beast, they exploded into tiny replicas of themselves, brighter and more devastating than a firework erupting. Doing this allowed the white fire to improve its surface area to volume ratio, allowing it to maximise its destructive force.
