CHAPTER 19

I thought it was a happy ending.

But , I was wrong.

It was the start of God's test on how much I can do for the sake of love.

Ever since we got engaged, he became more caring to me. He became clingy. Parati niyang sinasabi na mahal na mahal niya ako.

It was too good to be true.

Na iniisip kong parang may mali.

I didn't realized it..that my life was slowly changing before my eyes.

It was four in the afternoon, I was talking to my client on what happened. He was accused of murdering his family.

"Hindi ko maalala.. p-pag gising ko n-nalang, wala na silang buhay," his hands were shaking so I held it to calm him down.

"A-attorney, paano na ako.." he cried harder.

I was startled when he hugged me. Wala namang malisya kaso...

Before I knew it, nakasalampak na siya sa sahig.

I looked at Yohan who was fuming mad. His hand fisted and his jaw clenched. He lookes like he'll murder my client.

"How dare you touch her?!" dumagundong ang malakas niyang boses.

I stood up and held his hand to calm him but he shoved me away.

"Yohan, don't give meaning to it-"

"Shut up," he cut me off.

He walked towards my client and was about to punch him so I ran as fast as I could and pulled him.

Napalakas ang pagkakatulak niya sa akin kaya nauntog ang aking ulo sa lamesa.

He stopped.

He looked at me with horror.

"F-ck," dinaluhan niya ako. He assited me to stand up and wrapped his arms around me.

My forehead was bleeding but instead of treating my wound, he hugged me to apologize. He was so scared of me leaving him that he didn't even thought if I was hurt.

"I'm sorry.." he whispered.

"Hindi ko sinasadya," dugtong niya.

Hindi ko sinasadya.

I don't know why I suddenly heard my father's voice saying he didn't mean what he did to me.

I pulled from the hug.

Pinaalis ko muna ang aking kliyente.

When he finally noticed my wound, he cursed loudly. Lumabas siya saglit at pagbalik niya ay may dala siyang first aid kit.

He made me sit on the sofa. Tahimik akong umupo, inaaalala pa rin ang nangyari.

He treated my wound while muttering curses.

Nang matapos siya ay muli niya akong niyakap. I just remained sitting. Walang namutawing salita sa akin.

I couldn't believe my f-cking self.

"I'm sorry..I'm sorry. I love you," he whispered.

He pressed his lips aginst mine.

"It's okay," I said as I moved my lips.

How foolish.

I knew I deserved better, but I stayed.

Sa sumunod na araw ay sinabi niyang dadalhin niya ako sa amusement park sa hapon.

That morning, I was walking towards my office when I saw Adonis standing in front of the door.He was wearing a white shirt and a cargo pants. May nakasabit pang sunglass sa damit niya.

He flashed me a warm smile. Pero agad ding nawala ang kaniyang ngiti nang dumako ang kaniyang tingin sa aking ulo.

His brows furrowed. "What happened?" he asked.

I shook my head. We walked inside my office.

"Just an accident."

Wow.

Just an accident.

Pumirmi ang kaniyang labi.

"I heard what happened here yesterday. Did he hurt you?" nanliit ang kaniyang mata.

I shook my head calmly.

"He didn't. It was just an accident," I said the truth.

Aksidente lang naman talag.

Alam kong may gusto pa siyang sabihin ngunit pinili niyang itikom ang kaniyang bibig.

He sat in front of me.

"When's your wedding?" he asked.

"Three months from now."

"You know you can ask for my help anytime, right?" he asked and I nodded.

Wala naman dapat akong ipaghingi ng tulong sa kaniya. I'm good.

We talked some random things and when noon came, Adonis bid his goodbye.

Lumabas na ako sa lawfirm. I texted Yohan that I'm already outside and minutes later, I saw his car approaching.

"Hey," I kissed his cheek when I entered his car.

He smiled. Hinalikan niya ako sa labi at siya na ang naglagay ng aking seatbelt. Pinatakbo na niya ang sasakyan papunta sa amusement park.

I don't even understand kung bakit doon niya ako dadalhin. We're already oldies.

"Kumain ka na?" tanong niya.

"Hindi pa ako gutom."

He frowned. "Still, you need to eat. Let's order drive thru."

Umorder nga kami bago kami pumunta sa amusement park. We rode all kinds of ride. At nang matapos ay bigla akong sumuka.

Yohan held my hair as I throw up on the bowl. He was gently caressing my back.

"I told you you don't have to try all the rides," he chuckled.

"I'm curious," I stood up. Nagmumog ako at naghilamos. I retouched my makeup before we left.

Kumain pa kami ng ice cream at kung ano-ano bago namin mapagpasyahang umuwi na kasi dumidilim na.

Hindi ko alam kung bakit umagang umaga ay nagsusuka ako. Medyo nahihilo rin ako at masama ang aking pakiramdam.

"Good morning, baby.." Yohan was about to kiss me but I faced the other side. His lips landed on my cheek.

His lips parted. "What's wrong?" parang batang tanong niya.

I looked at him irritatedly. "Dun ka nga," I said as I entered the bathroom.

I was still not feeling well and I was very irritated at Yohan kahit wala naman siyang ginagawa.

I decided not to go to work. Yohan asked my why but I just said I'm not feeling well. He even volunteered to stay home but I'm irritated at his face so he has no choice but to leave.

Nakabusangot pa siya bago siya umalis.

I called Maura to tell her about my condition. Maybe she knows something or a medicine. I was confused when she asked when was my last menstration. But what she said shocked me.

I bit my lower lip as I closed the door of the cr.

Humigpit ang hawak ko sa tatlong pregnancy test. Sh-t.

Dahan-dahan kong iminulat ang aking mata upang tignan ang resulta.

Sh-t.

I tried it thrice but the result is still the same.

I'm pregnant.
