STEVE TOOK SEVERAL STEPS FORWARD, ANXIOUSLY AWAITING THE AMBUSH THAT WAS BOUND TO OCCUR WHEN HE LEAST EXPECTED. The door to the trailer dramatically shut behind him, now blocking the view between him and the teens that remained. Steve could count on one hand how many times he had stood up to fight instead of running off to hide somewhere he couldn't be found. It had become his new way of coping. But the simple reality remains that you can't run forever. And once he understood that, it gave him comfort, as well as the motivation to do what was needed.
The three remaining teens scrambled to the trailer window, either silently cheering him on, or freaking out on his behalf - although it didn't really soothe the panic within Steve. Goosebumps arose on Audreys arms and she harshly rubbed on them to not only ease the tingling, but to warm up the chills that danced through her body as she watched her best friend risk his life.
Dustin stood beside her, watching Steve's every movement with an immense amount of focus, nervously tapping his feet on the trailer floor. He had always thought Steve Harrington to be a giant dickhead with no care for anyone else besides himself, and his lucious locks. But now, with this new perspective on Harrington and his intentions, he couldn't help but gain some respect for him.
Which doesn't completely eliminate his title of being a dickhead, but only mildly softens the blow.
"Come on, buddy," Steve called in a taunting manner, eyes quickly canvasing the field as far as he could see.
Max quickly climbed down from the roof of the trailer, loosening her grip to easily descend, when she not so gracefully knocked into Dustin on her way down.
"What's he doing?" She asked hurriedly, ignoring the collision and pushing forward to look through the window alongside the two.
"Expanding the menu." Dustin replied simply, earning a shove and a disproving shake of the head from Audrey.
"Not cool." She scolded.
"Come on, buddy," He muttered once more, scanning the area intensely. "Dinner time."
Steve could still hear the low rumbling growls, and knew that the monster hadn't quite given up yet. He gulped heavily, and tightened his grip on his weapon.
"Human tastes better than cat, I promise."
"He's insane." Max exclaimed, resisting the urge to facepalm herself.
"He's awesome." Dustin corrected almost immediately, earning a dramatic eye roll from the redhead.
"Steve! Watch out!" Lucas stumbled onto the scene, pointing his shaky finger toward another demogorgon that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere, and was slowly creeping up on him.
"A little busy here!" Steve dismissed, refocusing his attention to the only one he was aware of.
"Three o'clock! Three o'clock!" Lucas desperately called out, moving his hands more vigorously.
Steve eventually turned his head to spot the new threat Lucas had tried to warn him about, making its way up to him with a newfound predatory speed.
That's when they knew this had to end now.
"Steve!" Dustin shouted, slamming into the trailer door, and opening it to reveal himself. "Steve! Abort! Abort!"
In a split second, one of the Demogorgon's lunges at Steve, and he narrowly dodges the rush, rolling onto and over a nearby car regaining his footing on the dirt. The monster was very close behind, and before it was able to reach him once more, Steve's bat slammed into its face, knocking it backwards and onto the ground in one quick beat.
