My bag is being packed by my cousins, as my mother, who hasn't spoken to me once since her arrival simply sits on the couch. There's a soft knock on the door, and when it opens, it reveals Elijah. "Lilliana, Santi and Alena are here to see you."

I tell him to let them in, and as soon as I see Santi's tall frame some part of my heart heals, and I approach him quickly, before throwing my arms around him.

"I'm so happy to see you're okay." I've known he was safe since I was in the hospital, but the images of what looked like his lifeless body have been hunting me in my sleep every night.

"Forgive me, Lilliana, for not being able to keep you safe, that day. What happened to you . . . They're going to pay for it with their lives." Although he's trying to keep him emotions at bay, his voice gives away that he's struggling a lot.

The children's voices fill the large cafeteria. "Sophia, I was wondering about Enrico, if the board has made a decision about him." The owner of the orphanage nods her head sadly.

"Yes. They're relocating him. However, because of his behavioural issues, they think a mental institution might be a better solution for him. Especially because there are no orphanages willing to take him. What breaks my heart is that his siblings have been trying everything to get this decision changed, but sadly there is nothing they can do."

Is there anything I can do?" I ask Sophia. "Unless you plan on adopting or know any orphanages that will take all four children, then unfortunately there is not."

I think about her words, which seems to alert her, "I was not serious about the adoption part. Adopting these kids because you feel bad isn't a choice, Mrs Haze."

"I know, but I may know of an orphanage that may take all four children."
