July 2nd - 1952

Flipping through page after page, book after book. The door opens and he looks up with bloodshot eyes, dark circles around his eyes and dilated pupils. "Tristan. You've been up all night again..." He smiles sweetly, "I need to find something, it's important." She walks over and looks down at the books, she reaches out and takes a look. "What kind of potion are you trying to make?" he brushes his hand through his hair, "I can't explain it but when I see it, I'll know what it is I'm looking for." He looks down at the book but then he looks straight back at her in a panic, "You're up! Meaning Nathaniel is awake?" He starts to get up and she pushes him down, "I'll watch over him today, you need to get some rest." He starts mumbling, "But the books, if you look after him I can find the book.." she bends down to look him in the eyes, "Tristan you need to stop trying to find it, for now, maybe if you go sleep and wake up you might wake up better and refreshed, and find it easier." He shakes his head, "I need to find it, I-" He mumbles so low and then breaks down, "I'm sorry. I am so sorry." Rhain hugs him from behind, "Let's go to your room, we have plenty of time to look for a potion, okay." He turns around and holds her tight, "I want more time... I just need a little more time." She picks him up and takes his hand to pull him to his room. "We are immortal, if you sleep for a while it'll make you feel better, and make you make sense." He lets go of her hand, bends his head down and leans his head on her head and walks.

The door swings open, "Good, you're awake!" Nathaniel shakes his head, "What do you think I'm going to do?" she spins around happily, "I don't know but, I don't want to spend it alone." he shakes his head and walks along the hallway. "Why isn't bodyguard Tristan here right now?" She turns to him, "You're tiring him out, he watches over you, stays in the library all night until the sun shines bright and repeats without sleep." Nathaniel laughs, "It doesn't exactly get bright here and what's so important that he needs to find that he'll stay up all night to try to find?" shrugging her shoulder and looking back through the hallway, "I just know it's important to him, so the least you can do is try to stay out of trouble." He mumbles, "There isn't anything for us to do here, I don't understand why we're here." She stops and looks at him, "Maybe because they have to discuss the meeting, and decide what they're going to do about our position in Heaven! You need to stop being annoying, can't you just do nothing for a while? You did so much time wasting in the mortal realm but now you want to do something." She crosses her arms and he looks down at her, "That's not the problem, I rather do nothing in the Human realm or in heaven if I'm going to. I don't want to spend my time in Hell." She drags him by his clothes and they stand outside a set of gold doors. "Go inside." He goes to walk away but she pulls him back, "Go inside!" He turns to face her and gets close to her face, "I understand what you're doing and it isn't funny! I won't go inside. Lucifer is in there and you know full well I won't be going in." She smiles, "Funny? I wasn't trying to be. But if you're going to act like this then ask to go home, or even better the mortal realm." He shakes his head. "I get what you trying to say, I won't complain any longer, can we leave before he really does come out." She nods, "We may." She leads the way.

When Tristan wakes up he goes to find Nathaniel and Rhain, He watches as they spend their time talking in the Fire Pit, he nods and walks to the library. He looks through the shelves and picks up another potion book, "Hey?" He jumps and takes out his wings to steady himself, "You scared me." He floats down and looks towards her, "How long have you been in here?" He smiles and holds the book close to his chest, "Don't worry, I just got up." She smiles and looks up at him, "Oh, don't worry about Nathaniel, he's with Alcaeus. I left them to it and he'll bring Nathaniel here if he needs to." Tristan smiles and nods gently, "Thank you, Rhain." She shakes her head, "It's nothing, what are you reading today?" He removes it from under his arm and goes to show her, "Potions 76.78" He looks down at the book and nods, "Tristan what are you looking for." He goes to sit around the table, "I'm not looking for any-" She interrupts finishing his sentence. "Anything special. Then tell me why you stay up and barely sleep, to look for something that isn't anything special!" She sits down beside him, "I'm looking for a confidence potion." looking at him confused, "Why would you need that." his smile was raw. "It isn't for me, but for you." They're both silent for a moment, and then he flips the page. "You think I'm not confident... What would you have said it was when giving it to me." He flips the page again, "I would have told you the truth, that it was a confidence potion." she nods. "Right, honesty. Tristan, why would you think I would need that." He smiles and looks away from the book, "You're not going to tell them you want to be Goddess or that you might want to be a mortal... They'll lock you up in heaven, you'll be forced to be an angel. If you don't speak up Rhain you won't get what you want, this is the only way, after they've made their decision, you won't have a say." Rhain places her hands on his face and he stops talking, "You're talking so fast, and I love that you care so much about what will happen to me." she leans in even closer. "I'll have the confidence that you have given me up until now, no matter what happens, my fate depends on me." He raises his hand then puts his hand on her face, he pulls her in closer and their foreheads touch. "Tristan..." She stares into his eyes and starts breathing heavier. "Rhain... I'm sorry." She pulls him in and kisses him roughly, he runs his fingers through her hair and places his other hand on her cheek.

Alcaeus knocks on the door, Rhain immediately gets up and pretends to look at the books, "Come in." Tristan clears his throat and wipes his mouth before looking closer at the words, Alcaeus and Nathaniel walk in. "I brought back Nathaniel, I'm going to the Nether Sort." Tristan nods, "Have fun." Alcaeus nods and waves goodbye shutting the door, "This is where you spend your time." Tristan nods. "Why are you both so silent, is it because I'm here?" Rhain looks at him, "We might as well spend time in here, I want to read." Tristan gets up, "I think I'll take some books to the cave." Nathaniel looks at him suspiciously, "Did you guys get into a fight? or have I interrupted something." Rhain looks at him shaking her head. "No, you didn't, pick a book and I'll get one too." Tristan leaves and Nathaniel picks up a book, "Weren't you going to read to try and talk with him?" she breathes out heavily, "I told you, no." He laughs, "You were much nicer when you had to please me." She grunts, "Things change and it turns out I hate you more than I hate Tristan." He grabs at his chest, "Ouch!" She shakes her head and turns the page, "Then I suggest you marry Tristan, it's the best option you've got." She places the book down furiously. "I told you I don't want to, the feelings aren't mutual and I don't want to talk about this any further with you!" She gets up and he follows, "You're not related to Tristan at all, whereas I'm related to both you idiots. If I become God I'll have to push you out the way, I won't let you have it even if father gives it to you." Rhain looks at him and shakes her head, "How could you! Those aren't my only options, those aren't your only options!" He leans against the shelves, "Your strengths are nothing compared to me, if I took you on it would be like taking on a fly." Her eyes start to water and her throat becomes stuffy. "Look at you now, confrontation isn't even getting you anywhere, how would you expect to go up against me?" She starts crying and Tristan walks in, "Making a girl cry..." Nathaniel laughs and looks at him, "Tristan, don't worry about it, I'm okay." Nathaniel nods, "See, she's okay." He goes to walk away but Tristan speed walks over and punches him in the face, "I didn't say it was 'okay' though, we aren't in Heaven." Nathaniel looks at him and shakes his head, "Making an enemy out of me isn't wise." Tristan smiles. "Why is that, I'll make sure that Rhain becomes Goddess." Nathaniel nods, "She can't win if she doesn't even defend herself, you can't fight her battles in Heaven, that's our territory." Tristan looks at her worryingly, Nathaniel watches as he catches him off guard, he punches him right back in the face. "Is that the only way you could hit me? If I wasn't paying attention!" Tristan walks in front of his face, "hit me again." Rhain presses down on Tristan's arm, "Don't sink to his level." Ignoring her Nathaniel goes to punch him and he grabs his fist in his hand, "You're an idiotic moron." Tristan twists his hand and throws him against the floor Nathaniel smiles and uses his powers, "Did you forget I have powers? How cynical can you be!" Rhain rushes to the door, she struggles to pull them open but when she does, she starts running down the hallway. "Just. Like. You. I. Have. Powers!" Tristan levitates him into the air smashing him against the wall, Nathaniel is unable to continue to stop Tristan's airways then tries to get up but then Tristan sets him on fire. "You might think you have better powers than me, but you don't and I'm stronger in a fight." Nathaniel uses his wind powers to put out the fire. "You've never told me though, what are your powers exactly?" Tristan smiles and shakes his head, "Carry this on and you'll see." Lucifer walks in. "ENOUGH!" Tristan stands silent, and Nathaniel looks away from him. "What is the meaning of this?" None of them speak and he looks to Tristan, "SPEAK!" Tristan's eyes were bright red, almost pink. "It was nothing Father, we were showing off our powers, that is all." Lucifer snaps his hand and a demon comes flying in, "Take Nathaniel to his room, make sure that he doesn't leave." The demon nods and pulls him away, "The library is where you decided to try out your powers?" Tristan nods, "Lying!" Tristan goes to speak but Lucifer opens his mouth, "You want to become the Devil and you still act on these childish impulses, You'll be happy to know that the Slayers Muck will need cleaning, and you will be doing it." He goes to protest but Lucifer turns and gives him a look that shuts him up. Lucifer leaves the room and Rhain walks back in, "What's the Slayers Muck?" He shakes his head and sits down, "You'll see tomorrow."
