Unacceptable

Chapter 16

Hi readers I've decided to get rid of some characters so that I could make my book a little bit more manageable. I realized that it was taking a lot away from the main character June. Although I do like all my characters and planned really good story lines for them I still wanted you to get to know her on a deeper level.
Characters that I will slowly be getting rid of in the next 2 chapters:

Esmeralda
William
Chester

The next two chapter will also be short so that I can continue on with the original plot !

June

"AHHHHH!" I woke up sweating with a trippled heartbeat. Flashes of my drunk father with the belt in his hand still fresh in my memory.

"You stupid girl !"

I shook my head head trying to get rid of the distant sound of his voice. I looked to the side of me to see the bed empty. Sebastian must've gotten up and went to sleep in his room in the middle of the night.

Seconds later my door swung open and there was Benjamin. I let out a sigh of relief before rolling my eyes at the man. He looked as if he had just woken up and was still half asleep.

"Wrong room Mr.Lock." I laid my head back down on my pillow and stared up at the ceiling. "I'm sorry if I woke you ...I had a nightmare." I explained still feeling slightly disoriented.

"I get them too." He spoke after a few seconds of silence. " Do you ... need anything?" He rubbed at his eyes probably an attempt to wake up a bit more.

I turned to look at him once more and I opened my mouth to say something before thinking twice.

"No thank you.."

He gave a hesitant nod before closing the door quietly behind him. A small part of me had wanted him to stay. I didn't want to be alone.

"I said I didn't need anything!" I blurted slightly startled by the door swinging back open so suddenly.

"Here." I watched as Benjamin walked to the side of my bed with a brand new looking stuffed animal and I gasped to see that it was mine. He was clean now ...

"He was dirty so I threw him in with the laundry last night."

"Thank you Ben..." My eyes slightly watered as I pulled the bear to my chest. "That was really nice of you." I quickly looked up at him once I realized what I had just called him.

"I'm sorry Mr-"

"Ben is fine."

Before I could utter another word he was gone and I was alone again.

Well at least I had my bear. I closed my eyes once more and fell asleep in seconds.

"I wanted to let you guys know that I got a job offer in London and after pondering this decision for quite some time now I've decided to take the job offer." Esmeralda finally spoke once we were near the end of finishing breakfast.

"Wait... when will you be back?" Sebastian dropped his fork in disbelief.

Esmeralda's stern gaze softened before looking away. " 4 years at the very least."

"But we might never get to see you again!"

"Seb.... That's not all ...." William spoke up and my eyes widened.

Were they all leaving? Was it because of what happened last night ? Do they know??

My mind flooded with questions but I stayed silent and played with a piece of bacon on my plate instead. Suddenly nothing seemed to taste right.

"I will be accompanying her." William finally spoke up. " I wanted to wait until you were all here to tell you but it appears Chester had other plans."

"Why would you wait to tell us on this day ..." Sebastian stood up from his chair with watered eyes " it's.... It's my birthday."

"I know hun.." Esmeralda tried to comfort him but he shrugged her off and stumbled back .

"You know what." He held a finger up and nodded to himself as if he were in deep thought. "Have a nice flight." He nearly spat but before anyone else could say anything to stop him he was halfway up the staircase.

I knew he needed time so I didn't follow him.

"Guess what I've gotttt!" Chester appeared out of nowhere with two large bags and a big smile on his face. Once he heard the news his smile began to fade and he stood there staring at the empty chair that Sebastian had just been sitting in.

"Oh..." he looked around for a moment not really knowing what to do.

"And where were you?" William asked cautiously and Chester gave him a hurt glare.

"I guess it really doesn't matter now does it?"

"Chester-"

"Give these to Seb if you get the chance ." He placed Sebastian's gifts on the table and disappeared up the staircase as well. It was so quiet in the house that you could hear him slam his door once he got to the top.

Me and Rosie hesitated before looking at one another and then back down at our plates.

Awkward....

Sorry this was so short I just wanted to get this out of the way because I was confused myself.
