I sat down at the dinner table, looking down at my plate. Oh lit, steak and potatoes with gravy, one of my favorite dinners. Thank you God.

"Umm. Mason?" My dad said, clearing his throat. I looked at him, sending him a closed lipped smile.

"Hmm?" I hummed, putting a piece of steak in my mouth. Yummy.

"Did that boy...did he hit you again?" He asked, concern on his face.

"No." I said. "He hasn't hit me in a few weeks actually."

"Well he must've, or you've got a little bit of explaining to d0. " My mom said, pointing at me and frowning.

"W-What?" I asked confused. What the hell is she talking about right now? I don't have time for this.

"Why didn't you tell us that you have a girlfriend?" My dad asked.m, a small smile showing on his tires features.

"A girl... I don't have a girlfriend dad." I said, even more confused than before. I really don't get what's happening right now, like I missing something? I haven't talked about girls with my parents in who knows how long. Where is this coming from all of a sudden?

"Stop with the lies. If you don't have someone you're
volved with them what's that on your neck?" My mom asked. On my...

I reached up, slapping a hand over where Ryker had been biting earlier. I felt my face heat up at a stellar speed, and I hurried to explain myself. "I-Its not what you think—"

"So that's not a hickey on your neck?" My dad asked. He didn't seem annoyed by it as much as my mom did, he seemed proud if anything. I mean, I'm not exactly a ladies man but I've had a few quick girlfriends here and there. The prospect of me having a new girl on my arm probably makes him happy.

"It is but it's not like that." I said quickly. They're not
believing me at all right now, this looks so suspicious.

"Then what is it like?" My mom asked. What's it like? Uhhhhh. I can't tell her that Rvker and I..
I felt my face get hot again and I covered my face groaning.

"It's complicated." I grumbled. I'm totally getting Ryker later on for this. He wasn't even on my neck for that long, how did he manage to make a mark!

"Mhmm, who's the girl?" My dad asked, sounding genuinely interested.

"There's no girl. I swear. I didn't even know it was on my neck until you guys pointed it out." I said, putting my hands up in surrender.

"I don't know how you couldn't know, it's dark. It looks like a bruise, that's why I thought it was that boy again." My mom said. Oh, it was that boy alright... asshole.

"Okay can we please drop this? If we talk about it anymore I'll overheat from embarrassment." I said.

"Fine. But we're going to meet her. It's not going to be another Tranessa where we didn't meet her until two months into your relationship." My mom said. I rolled my eyes, focusing on my food.

Tranessa was a girl I dated freshmen year. We dated for three months, she met my parents the second month in. She broke with me because I didn't tell her who was beating me up. Fucking Ryker.

Once I was done I practically ran to my room, going into my bathroom. I looked at my neck and gasped.

I'm not a melanin rich person, in other words I'm sort of pale, so this hickey was dark against my complexion. I didn't even notice that he'd bit me that hard, and the mark was big. So big that it wasn't
even worth trying to cover it.
