Chapter 22: Dead End

Hindi ko na alam kung sino ang sisisihin ko ngayon. Obviously, it was Mum's fault, but my mind was too clouded.

"You know what, Sab, walang patutunguhan 'to," Mat said. "Pauuwiin ko muna si Clark. I don't want any commotion here in my place. Wala rin namang mangyayari kahit magsagutan pa kayong dalawa."

I really didn't want to blame Clark for what happened. Pero kasi, kahit sino naman siguro, iyon ang iisipin kasi umamin siyang nag-yes nga siya sa wedding.

Sa bibig na niya mismo nanggaling. He said yes to Mum. After Leo's wedding, sigurado nang siya ang susunod. And that's gonna happen next year.

Wala pang clear plan sina Leo and Ky apart from beach wedding. Walang clear details and the planning for that takes time.

I can't marry Clark. I need my brand. Walang-wala na 'ko ngayon. Even my IDs, wala.

I texted Kuya and asked what was happening doon sa wedding.

S: Kuya, did Mum say something about the wedding ni Leo or sa akin?

It took him a few minutes to respond. From the glass wall of the living room, I saw Clark's car move, and I guess he'd go home as Mat suggested.

R: Mum and Jae are at it again. She's asking for a freaking baby and Jae has a different opinion. Ang gulo na nila.

S: Ayaw ni Jae ng baby?

R: Jae wants to, but things are complicated. Tita Filly kept on bragging about Eugene's trophies, and Auntie Liz added fuel to the fire. The Vizcarras brought Pat's baby here sa reception, and now we're in the middle of chaos.

Kuya sent a photo of Mum glaring at Melanie's mother carrying a baby in a cute white onesie and a light pink bonnet. Everyone's attention was on that baby, and I could see why Mum was forcing Jaesie to have one too.

The mere fact that the baby is a Lauchengco, no one could blame my Mum's inggitera side for having a grandchild soon.

S: Did Mum request a baby boy from you?

R: YES!!! Kanina pa niya ako kinukurot na dapat lalaki ang anak ko next year! Like WTF??? And Jae said na kung makikinig ako kay Mum, maghanap na lang ako ng ibang mabubuntis, hindi raw siya magagalit. Pero uuwi na siya sa condo niya. Hell freaking no!

I was heartbroken for a moment pero natawa ako sa reply ni Kuya. Napatakip ako ng bibig para itago ang tawa ko.

R: I was expecting about your problem with Clark right now, and how I wish 'yon talaga ang topic. -_- Not me and Jaesie and having a baby or whatsoever. Nakakapundi na si Mum.

S: Poor you.

R: By the way, Clark said you're in Mat's place right now. What happened?

Ah! Of course, muntik ko nang makalimutan.

S: Mum locked my penthouse. Hinarang din kami kanina sa Ivory Meadows, ire-report daw ako kung pumunta ako sa bahay mo.

R: What?

S: Hingin mo nga kay Mum wallet ko right now, Kuya. Wala ako kahit piso!

R: Wait, hang on.

I closed my phone for a moment and checked the gate. It was already closed and Mat was busy checking her plants habang nasa labas. May mga inurong siya roong pots ng cactus at ilang aloe vera.

My phone beeped and I checked the messages.

R: Mum said umuwi ka na raw sa Dasma.

S: No way! Ni-lock niya ang penthouse ko para lang ma-force akong umuwi sa Dasma!
