"i have a surprise for you," mike whispered to el once he walked through the doors.

"what is it!?" her excitement began to grow and he smirked. "you'll see after dinner."

she pouted and crossed her hands on her hip. "you can't tease and lead me on,"

he chuckled at her expression. "don't get your hopes up, it's not that big of a surprise anyways."

she frowned, her nose scrunched. "give me like a.. a range,"

"well... uh, it's probably not as exciting to you now,"

"why not?"

"you'll see.."

she huffed and walked away, deliberately making her steps echo through the whole house. "the stomps means i'm not happy, by the way!"

he laughed as he went up the stairs. "got it!" he grinned, letting out a playful eye roll before he went to get changed real quick.

after he had gotten changed, he headed to the kitchen where everyone was about to get seated and he practically lunged to pull out el's chair.

"thank you," she murmured and he sat down right across of her so ava could sit in his usual seat.

they began to eat, el's eyes glued to the tv as she talked about her day.

mike didn't mind though, he smiled as she excitingly talked about everything she did and that made him the happiest.

"then, the cat wouldn't leave me alone! by the way, she's named biscuit now," el said, putting a spoon of rice into her mouth.

"biscuit?" mike echoed quietly and she nodded.

el and mike sat on the roof, opening different bags of biscuits and snacks to eat as they chatted away.

"why the name?" he asked to see if she remembered.

she shrugged. "i dunno.. it just came to me," she mumbled and look at him before a little wince escaped her.

she grasped onto her head with a hand as the fork dropped from her other.

"el?" mike instantly rushed to his feet and over to her. "what's wrong?" he asked gently as she let out a loud wince.

"my head.. ow," her other hand went up to her head and tugged on her hair due to the pain. "it hurts,"

"hurts like on the outside or—"

"a painful headache. it's pounding!" she gasped and hit her head to make the pain go away. "hey, hey," mike grabbed her hand as abby rushed to grab some medication for her.

"we'll get you some pain meds. just calm down and not hit your head," he said as she inhaled a deep breath to control herself.

"that's it." he smiled. "have you had a headache like this before?" he murmured, hoping the answer would be no.

"little ones.. not as painful.." she whispered tiredly and he nodded. "okay," he chose not to parade her with questions at the moment.

abby came over to hand el some pills that she instantly swallowed.

"you need to tell us if something hurts, okay?" mike reminded her. "we need to know,"

el have two small nods.

he gently smiled at her. "do you need to lay down?"

she shook her head. "dinner," she said and turned back to her food without muttering another word.

mike nodded, deciding to leave her be before he sat back down.

el stayed silent during her dinner and once she was done, ava helped her up to get ready for bed since the medication was making her tired.
