"THAT'S IT. COME ON, NOW. COME CLOSER," Hagrid encouraged them, standing on the steps of his hut to gain some unneeded height over the third years. Lizzie decided to ignore the thoughts wandering around her head, wanting to show Hagrid her full attention for his first lesson. It seemed everyone in the class was excited for this lesson, some others much more curious at what was in store. Another thing that could be seen as a pattern around the class was the many Monster Book of Monsters bound with belts, rope and sellotape. Lizzie looked around, confused as to how no one but herself had managed how to work out how to calm them down yet.

“Less talking, if you don’t mind,” Hagrid said to the crowd, the hushed whispers and mutterings between classmates falling short, and the man smiled heartily. “I got a real treat for you today. A great lesson. So, follow me.”

The half-giant led them all down from his hut, past the boundaries of the Forbidden Forest and through a small path between some trees. Roots and weeds grew across the mud, tripping up half a dozen of the students in front who hadn’t seen them, the ones behind them being careful to dodge them. Lizzie felt the morning sun start to beat down on her a little, Ron feeling the same, both taking off their robes and draping them around their bag straps as they stepped over a gap in a broken, stone wall. Her shirt sleeves flapped around her wrists, the bottom of it untucked from her trousers, her tie back to being a complete mess, swinging loosely around her neck.
